LouthMam replied to the topic Vitamin D supplement for newborns?? in the forum Pregnancy, Mums2Be, Birth, New Parents 12 years, 8 months ago
I recently had a booking in appointment at OLOL and the midwife made a big point of going over the new Vitamin D for newborns guidelines. She said it was the only issue that was new since my last baby so she skipped a lot of the other stuff. I had to laugh and commented that with 3 babies in less than 4 years the guidelines changed each time.

I know it’s not Drogheda but I was in Debenhams in Newry on Sunday and they have a sale rail of boys suits 0-24 months. I was tempted to get one for my DS who will be 2 attending a wedding next Jan but not sure how big he will be! Good value there though – 70% off etc.

Sorry to hear that lyn11, the joys eh? Yes eggs and wholewheat toast would be perfect I’d say. Or what about plain porridge that you make up yourself with milk, water and maybe cinnamon? And a cup of tea is fine too.
I’m going for this test myself in a few weeks as my Dad is diabetic so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. My friend was…[Read more]

I think "Harper" is ok – not mad about though.
"Seven" is just awful! I’ve heard worse though 🙂 -
LouthMam replied to the topic Where to go camping? in the forum National Chat 12 years, 10 months ago
We’ve been here a few times. It’s in Kilkenny but the road down is good.
The farmer brings the children on a hay ride every evening, lovely little farm, nice river walk, and you can order home made pizza in the evening and scones and bread in the morning so no need to mess about with cooking.http://www.norevalleypark.com/farm.php

Yeah, it’s unreal sometimes how thoughtless people can be. That was a once-off bad experience for me but it took me ages toget over it.
Your poor Mum Taylor5 – an elderly aunt of mine was mugged in Dublin City Centre a few years ago – they got absolutely nothing but it really shook her up. -

Longest day of the year indeed. I’ve exhausted most of our usual activities, even baked, and it’s still only 3 o’clock!!
I like to get out to a playground or park every day as they sleep so much better at night but not a lot of that going on this summer. -

That always drove me mad about the waiting area in the the Louth – women’s mammies and partners sitting there and pregnant women standing – unreal!! I’ve shamed some eejits into giving up their seats on my visits there too. I don’t think it’s malicious or anything, people just don’t consider anyone else. Me Fein culture at its finest.
I had…[Read more]

Hi Brenda2011,
Yep sounds like pregnancy hormones (sorry!). I was all over the place at various stages of pregnancy and post-pregnancy. It’s all totally normal so just tell everyone to be extra nice to you. You deserve it!
It’s always a bit stressful taking any medication while pregnant but you’re probably on a very mild anti-biotic which is…[Read more] -

That’s great – you can’t beat having Mammy there – no matter how old we get! I know my own Mam was a legend when my DS was born – I hadn’t realised how great the change would be from 1 baby to 2.
And yes, your little fella is healthy and well and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend. -

Ah pookie, you are having a tough time of it at the moment 🙁
I’ve no helpful advice to offer really but just try to keep your chin up. This too will pass – that’s what I always say to myself when everything seems to conspire against me.
It’s the weekend, so try to relax and forget about that woman today. Maybe have a little glass of wine, a…[Read more] -

I had Dr Akpan on both pregnancies, although he did not need to attend either birth – I just had a midwife there. He is very nice and down-to-earth.
I had to have a fallopian tube removed back in 2007 and Dr Akpan did the surgery for me and also came to check in on me every day for 5 days afterwards.

Haha, that’s gas – I’m a city girl and I think the Friary is nice and small. Depends on what we’re used to I guess. There were nearly 900 students in my own primary school and 42 in my class growing up 😯 1,300 in my secondary school.
Yes, for me, location is very important. The winter we’ve just had brought home to me how much I do not…[Read more] -

Just thinking – the primary school out in Haggardstown is meant to be lovely too. If you prefer a smaller school that might suit you better. I think that as all of the development for that area has not materialised (Malmount, Stamanaran, Earlsfort etc), the numbers are nice and low there. Maybe worth checking out further?

Hi pookie2,
I’m not from Dundalk but my husband and his sister went to the Friary so that’s where I have my children’s names down. My FIL went there too back in the 30s!They all loved it but I know that their information would be quite out of date.
In saying that, anyone I know who has children currently attending the Friary absolutely rave about…[Read more] -

The Obama visit certainly seems to have lifted the country’s spirits today. Long may it last!
I thought yesterday was great. I’m no big Enda Kenny fan but I think he has played a blinder in the past week between the Queen’s visit, Garrett Fitzgerald’s funeral (RIP), and the POTUS’s visit too.
I know loads of people are taking the mick out of…[Read more] -
