    Hi all!

Right, so here I am, a foreigner doing my best to figure out my son’s homework….

http://www.focal.ie and google translate are wonderful resources for me, BUT I am desperately trying to source a website that will "speak" the words to me. I want to be able to type a word into the computer and for it to spit out what the word sounds like…

Can anyone help me please before I bash my somewhat weary head against a wall??

    I’m dreading third class! 😳
I’ve got DS at the Gaelscoil and I have to say they are very good and supportive…. I just want tobe able to get involved in his work, and if I could just "hear" the words, it would help with his reading etc….

    http://www.nagaeilmagazine.com/pronounciation/introduction.htm
    and
    http://www.english.glendale.cc.ca.us/gaelic.html
    are websites for Irish pronounciation.

Now I’m taking the easy route, I make my 7 year old check her brother reading in irish. 😆 😆
And she’s very happy to do it.

    Try this website: http://www.abair.tcd.ie
You write in the box the irish word/sentence and then click synthesise. It will play it back in Irish.
Note: It is in a Gaoth Dobhair dialect, which is a lot stronger and quicker than the way your children speak. They are working on Munster and Connacht dialects.
So if you use it with Google translate etc, it should help you a lot. 😀
