IF any mums reading this have a choice and can get on the MLU it’s definitely the best way to go if you’re having a hospital birth. You get to know a small team of midwives and spend about 30 minutes chatting with you at each appointment .

Your appointments are on time, you get to labour in your own private room with your midwife and stay in the room until you leave. You also have access to their fabulous birth pools 🙂 If you feel you need an epidural you just move to the labour ward. Then when you get home you have home visits from your midwife for your post natal care.

Seeing an obstetrician is only recommended if a mum/baby is having complications. There are only 3 private rooms in OLOL and you labour in a public ward and as others have mentioned there are no guarantees for a private room or that your consultant will be there for the birth.

Midwife Led Care means less interventions and a better chance of having a normal birth.
