So it’s time again for Mother’s day,
It comes around every year,
For some it brings a big warm smile,
While some others will shed a tear,
For children everywhere both young and old,
It gives an opportunity to say,
That despite past rules and scolding,
You wouldn’t have her any other way,
Whether you say "mam", "mum", "ma", "mammy",
Or "mater" or simply "mother",
When it comes to all-encompassing love,
There really can be no other,
For wiping tears and giving hugs,
And being as proud as can be,
In parks and playgrounds everywhere can be heard,
"Mam, I hurt my knee"!
Mumstown here is filled with mums,
All different types and ages,
And all with stories happy and sad,
That could fill a million pages,
If you’re still lucky enough to have your mam,
Make sure Sunday you don’t forget,
And if like mine, she’s long, long gone,
There’s still no need to fret,
Take the time to pause and think,
The memories are always still there,
Tell someone else about your mum,
It’s always good to share,
But a word of caution to dads and hubbies,
Who may think it’s not their role,
Unless you want you b**ls in a sling,
Go get chocs, or flowers or gold!
Happy mother’s day to all!
Dave.
