So after months & months of hearing people talk about this book, I finally got it out of my library & started reading it. I am about 6 chapters in & today I went for my first run (when I say run I mean jogged very slowly then walked then jogged then walked for 45 minutes). My excuse for never having run before was always because I thought my boobs were too big (34F I thought they would give me a black eye if I ran!).So I am going to try & do as the book says for the next 2 months & hopefully by then I will WANT to run & continue it as a way of life.

What I like about it is you don’t have to change your diet (I love chocolate) & all you have to do is run for 45 minutes 4-5 times a week to see big changes in your body.

I am motivated to lose my wobbly mummy tummy.i was wondering does anyone else want to get the book aswell & we can both post on here & encourage eachother to keep going when we want to give up?…..any takers out there?…..

well done for getting up and doing it. You’ll be flying along in no time hopefully! A few of my neighbours have started running and I have been tempted to join them but I am afraid I will be too slow! They did a couch to 5km and trained over the course of a few weeks and they all ran a 5km last weekend and came in around 35 mins. I think they are bloody brilliant for doing it and would love to be able to do that myself.

I think I’ll get this book myself, heard so much about it. If will be at the bookstore tomorrow and if its not too dear, will pick one up too and chat with you about it! We can egg each other on!

    Watch this space…. 🙂

I did purchase this book, after hearing her interview on Ray D’arcy and listening to all the great reviews too.

I was disappointed with the book, BUT I am not a runner, I have tried it a few times and it is not for me, I’ll walk and walk and walk but run?? No.

Sabbi, I can’t put my hand on the book, but give me a day or two and if I find it, you are welcome to it!

Also, just to say – if you are ever looking for books, I would recommend trying the book shop in St Vincent De Paul at the top of Peter Street. The book shop is out the backand has loads of books! I went in and got the Twilight collection (5 books) for €5! And the girl there, knew every book she had!

Yvonne, i am in no way a runner either, ive never even liked the idea of it but something has to give with my weight so im willing to give it a try.

Sabbi, like you i would have a huge respect for someone running 5km…..i think that would be beyond amazing if i could achieve that in the coming months-fingers crossed.

Anyone else willing to give it a try?. 🙂

I done the 5Km in the Phoenix Park last year, in 41 mins – was so proud of myself..

I probably just haven’t given it enough time… as I am also very busty, I feel awkward and self conscious! But you have made a point Haileysmum – I need to lose weight, so something has to give… food for thought there….

Good luck with the running girls. I started running at the end of June and did the 5k last weekend. I did it in 31minutes but found it tough going so I’ve still got a way to go before i start enjoying it!!! It was something i wanted to do for years and i never thought i would. I always had some excuse or other but you get a great sense of achievement each time you manage a minute or two longer or an extra few hundred metres. The first time i went out, i didn’t even manage two minutes and i felt physically sick!

Yvonne, you say you aren’t a runner, but you have done a 5km,that makes you a runner in my book & if you can do that once you can do it again. 😀 you are already miles ahead of me as I haven’t even run 1km (in a row) yet….just very slowly jogged mixed with walking!…..I think its going to take me a couple of months before I can run 5km in one stint.

Lellykelly – well done on all you have achieved as well, I hope to reach those big goals that you have done in the months ahead.

thanks, though i still feel like ive a bit to go yet! The one thing is Haileysmam, I was amazed at how quickly your fitness improves. i never thought id get to the stage of running for more than 2 minutes at a time, but it soon comes together. good luck, let us know how you get on!

    Stick with it Haileysmum

I did the 5km in Edinburgh last May 12 months (had baby in the meantime) in 34 minutes & was so proud of myself. Only took it up aged 40. Will get back to it when baby is weaned. Great for clearing the head & having thinking time. And you do feel good afterwards. Never heard of the book – just make sure you have good shoes!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies. 😀

Pookie, are there any particular runners that are recommended for running?.I am wearing adidas runners that are maybe 2 years old….do you think I need to upgrade?.

I am a busty babe myself and I find that an Enell sports bra sorts that out. It literally straps them down so they barely move when running. They are specifically designed for curvy ladies and for running & bouncing (ladies who ride horses wear them)

If giving running or jumping a go, I would highly recommend a good bra, that is one thing that makes a huge difference.

I never got to book shop but planning to get in this week – will have a look for it. 🙂

Oh yeah. Da bra! Strap those babies down! Think am a 30F – nothing worse that dem flip-flopping.

No expert on the shoes, but think you need a running shoe as distinct from ‘runners’. Nothing like a blister or bleeding toenail to put you off….

Keep eye on Lidl & Aldi. Cheap running stuff & nothing wrong with them at all….

Ok so advice needed on how to avoid getting a stitch when running ?

Or how to make it go away once you have a stitch?!….

I am managing to run/fast jog a bit more than last week ….but it is still no way fun 😆 ….anyone else going to get the book?…would love to have another person to bitch about running with!! 😆

I still get a stitch sometimes, but the main ways to avoid it i find is to need eat for an hour or two before i go out running. I think it mostly comes down to breathing though, if i get one i find slowing down slightly and taking as deep breaths as i can manage helps. But your right once get one its very hard to lose it!

Agree on lidl pookie, i got a jacket and running gloves there last week for less than 15 euro and they are great. I too am wearing adidas at the moment but will be getting new runners soon
elverys do free gait analysis where they analyse what way your foot falls when you run and suggest the best runners for you. Its not always expensive runners either, i know a good few people who have got it done and are surprised at the runners suggested for them. That’s where Il be going anyway

    Hope that helps!
