Did you know Perineum massage can reduce your risk of episiotomy at birth?? I wish I had known this on my first pregnancy because I definitely would have done it and possibly avoided a painful cut (episiotomy) during birth.
For anyone who is pregnant, it is a good idea to massage this area regularly in preparation for baby’s arrival.
It can makes a big difference as it stretches the area naturally and can reduce your risk of needing an episiotomy and trust me when I say, you do not want one of these unless absolutely necessary. I had one and it was quite sore for a few weeks after the birth and also, it got infected because it was stitched incorrectly after my baby was born. I was walking around like a cowboy who had just gotten of a horse after a long ride – it was so sore!!!
I like Elave body oil for massage in this area, it has no nasty chemical in it, so is very good for this.
