Got a bit busy this week….now we are nappy free in our house (hooray!!!!), so we took a nice solid wooden baby changing unit that we did not want to throw away and (hopefully) transformed it into a sideboard! Got the chalk paint and inspiration from Gillian at Quaint Peter St. Drogheda, fab little shop with lots paint advice :D

With chalk paint there is no sanding or prep, you just paint it and then add some wax. Its very very easy to do and a great way to reuse a piece of furniture and give it a new lease of life.

Very nice, I love it. Any idea how much the paint cost?

A tin of chalk paint costs €27.95 and one tin covers 13.5 square metres, so you could do up a whole room with just one tin. For e.g. one tine could do wardrobes, lockers and a cabinet to upcycle a bedroom.

Or if you wanted to do up your kitchen, you would need one or two tins to do over all your cupboards.

You need to finish off the unit you paint with either wax (13.50) a tin (and basically lasts forever, I have used the same tin for 4 items now and there still loads in it) or you can use a spray on laquer and that costs €29.95.

The next upcycling class is on in Quaint on Peter St in Drogheda on Tuesday 16th September from 10am-1pm and costs €45.

The paint is safe for use in pregnancy too, so anyone with a bump can safely use it.

cannot recommend highly enough, no sanding, no prep – just paint, wax and hey presto, your done! 😀
