So last week I had a meeting with new fitness studio Sásta in Southgate in Drogheda. The girls asked me to come in my runners, so I could try out the fitness pod while I was there. I headed off to the meeting, in runners, feeling a tad strange.

In I went and met with Carmel & Maria Sásta southgate and they were so lovely and enthusiastic about the fitness pods that before I knew what was happening, I was jogging in the pod (which is special kind of funky treadmill) and chatting away to the girls about how this could be a really good fitness and weight loss plan for Mammies.

Its hard to explain but here goes. The pod is a treadmill that you are enclosed in from the waist down. You are secured around your waist by a skirt type garment which is similar to wetsuit material and this is wrapped around the top of the pod to hold you into it. Then you walk, jog or run for 30 mins and at the same time, there are inclines and a vacuum effect inside to make it …..a challenging an interesting experience.

I love to exercise (well, love might be pushing it a bit but I do try to exercise 3-4 times a week). I run, walk and go to classes but I have struggled to lose the last 1.5 stones I need to lose since I had my last baby. Its diet related I know, so I know I need to do something about my eating habits!

The girls explained to me that there is a full fitness & weight loss programme I could do with Sasta for 1 month, which should help me drop a dress size and they asked me to be a guinea pig and sign up to blog about it on here. So here I am, blogging with sore legs and sore shoulders but feeling pretty good about it….

After sweating buckets during my workout, I really felt like I had worked hard, so I can definitely see the merits of this plan. When I came home I was super excited while talking to my hubby, (a.k.a ‘evil admin’ or Mr Mumstown). He said he would like to tone up a bit too and decided to join up with me.

So we went together on Friday morning and had a great workout and got ourselves weighed, measured, went through a food plan (you can still have glass wine and few squares choc at weekends thank goodness!!) and agreed we would give it our best shot and spur each other on when one of us goes for the biscuits. What that they say…the couple that laughs together, stays together. Not sure about the couple that exercises together….but we’ll see how we cope!!

So here is how we are getting on:
    Day 1:
We were full of gusto. Determined to be good and stick to the plan. After lunch we missed the little choccie biscuit we often have with a cup of tea but we stayed strong and did not have it!

By the end of the day we were a bit hungry so we had an extra snack off the list.

    Day 2:
Missing chocolate. I would have had a bar of chocolate for breakfast quite happily! Its something to do with your body withdrawing from sugar intake but it was ahard day. I struggled a bit but I found fruit was a good distraction and helped with the sugar cravings. Thank goodness for juicy plums!

    Day 3:
Had the cooked breakfast option. Poached eggs, bacon and tomato and even a slice of toast with it. Was still delicious and filled us right up. We are having to make an effort to remember to have a snack such as fruit & nuts or ryvita or oatcakes, 3 hours after brekkie and 3 hours after lunch too – its like forming a new habit as we often go without anything between breakfast & lunch or lunch & dinner and that is what slows down your metabolism. Its all about 5 meals a day!

We’ll keep you all filled on how we get on and if anyone would like to go in for a FREE TRIAL, just call Carmel and let her know you are from Mumstown.ie and she will book you in. See http://www.sastafitness.ie or email drogheda@sastafitness.ie or call Carmel or any of the guys there on 0858858946

And I forgot to mention, after the fitness pod where you run/walk for 30 mins, you also do some body sculpting. This is crunches, weights, squats. All the stuff we don’t want to do but which gives us lovely bums and tums!!! This means you are working out your whole body and you will really feel it – trust me, my body is sooo feeling it now!!

Current special offers in Sasta Southgate Drogheda (upstairs from Dunnes Stores) are
    1. Weight loss package is €195.00 and includes 13 exercise sessions, weekly weigh in’s, food plan consultation etc.

    2. Buddy Weight loss package – When 2 people sign up together Sasta offers a buddy up package – same as above – for €180.00 each if they join together.

    3. The fitness package includes 13 sessions on the fitness pod and body sculpting afterwards and this works out at €150.00.

    4. Fitness package option 2 is 13 sessions on the pod only for €130.00

Anyone can call in for a FREE TRIAL, just give the guys a call or email to book a time for your free trial.

My mantra right now is LRD, LRD, LRD….a little red dress I really want to fit into before Christmas ❗ ❗ That’s going to keep me running on that pod!!!

Mr Mumstown is over there now and sweating buckets I reckon!!

We each go 3 times a week and then we follow the food plan at home. And its not a weird food plan, its normal food you would eat anyway, its more about learning portion control and cutting down on some things (potatoes) and increasing other things (water, green veg)

So here is an example of a daily food plan:
    Breakfast – Porridge
Mid morning snack – Fruit and nuts
Lunch – Tuna wrap and side salad
    Afternoon snack – Yoghurt
Dinner – Roasted Chicken and veg
If peckish later on, you can have couple squares dark chocolate, few nuts or ryvitas. We had a coconut macaroon last night with a cup of tea because we really fancied something nice and these are not so bad!

Its years since I was weighed for a plan so will be interesting to see what the results are like….will let ye know 😀

Hello everyone – evil admin here 👿

Had my third session today, have been on Jog setting 1 which is very good, might drop down to walk setting 5 on Friday as I’ve done 3 sessions & 3 football matches in the past 7 days…body has requested a little rest.

Finding the nutrition side of things very interesting, I did the shop yesterday and will happily admit it was the strangest shop experience of my life. While we would eat healthy dinners every day its the lack of biscuits, crisps and "nice" things that are now making the difference. I looked at the supermarket in a totally different light and noticing how easy it is to pick up so many treats.

Enjoying the experience so far but if you notice Mrs Mumstown hasn’t been around for awhile please don’t blame my lack of sugar or tired bones!

Mrs. Mumstown again. Had my 4th session in Sasta today and I am not sure if its my imagination but I think there was a big less jiggling going on!

I am looking forward to the weigh in on Friday with trepidation….but am a little bit, dare I say it, optimistic!!

Its been 6 days now and we are both still alive and not headed for the divorce courts, which is positive.

The kids are wondering why there is a lack of chocolate biscuits and treats and are having to make do with lots and lots of fruit and a few yoghurts if they are well behaved enough!

While I do still miss chocolate – not as much s 3 days ago though – I think this is doable.

This morning when I had my 4th session, it was the first time I did not have to slow down the treadmill during my session. That’s a really positive sign as it means I am getting better at running and that my fitness is improving.

This is a really exciting fitness regime….I would definitely recommend it.

Will keep ye posted as we go….

Sitting here having a bowl of Kelkin granola, first time I’ve ever eaten granola in my life and I love it. How did I not know about how nice granola is???? Sometimes the things that are good for you are actually really nice too.

Well, that’s my first weigh in over (phew) and I lost 3lbs!! I got my period last night so I was feeling very bloated this morning and worried I might not lose anything, as I did not feel great this morning heading out the door (its so hard being a woman sometimes!)

Anyway, 3lbs down is a great start. I am chuffed and even better than that – I ran the whole session this morning without slowing down. Next week I’ll move up to the next level.

I can feel a difference in my breathing and stamina when I am running, which is a move in the right direction too.

This is tough but its doable and there is loads of support along the way.

Call the guys to book in for a free trial if you would like to give it a go, you can get them on http://www.sastafitness.ie or email drogheda@sastafitness.ie or call Carmel or any of the guys there on 0858858946

Evil admin here, in the first 2 weeks I’m 6lbs down – most importantly for me I’m feeling fitter & stronger when playing football.

The guys in Sasta are brilliant, very encouraging, very understanding and genuinely want to help you.

Still some work to be done but very achievable.

Last night a curly wurly got the better of me…. 😳 😳 😳

I am staying away from chocolate (nearly all the time! 😉 ) while we are doing the Sasta plan but last night, my son had a little curly wurly and before I knew it, I had taken a bite and was chomping it down. I don’t even know how it got to my mouth, I don’t remember telling my hand to pick it up – but somehow it landed in my gob!

Oh it was so nice to have a little bite and its probably just as well he ran off with the rest of it or who knows what would have happened!!!

I guess we all have our moments of weakness! And thankfully, that little bite got me over the hump and I feel back to normal (whatever that is!) today.

My hubby was really wanting a few beers last night and when I told him about my secret curly wurly chomping session, he fell around laughing so much that he no longer cared about having a beer. Knowing I had caved in gave him the strength not to. Glad I could give my hubby a good laugh anyway…even if was at my expense 🙄

Everyone has moments of weakness and its good to know that we all feel that way sometimes. Its normal I reckon and even if we do have a little blip, we can get back on plan afterwards.

Today I will be super good again!!! (unless someone comesnear me with a curly wurly) 😆

    Evil admin here.

Our youngest had one of those "I’m getting in with my Mam & Dad" moments last night – unfortunately it was at 3am & 5am – so you can imagine I wasn’t really up for a session in Sasta.

Decided to give myself a kick in the arse and get down to Southgate. Once you walk in the guys immediately make you feel better – nothing like a big welcoming smile and few words of encouragement.

The great thing about using the Pod is that you start very slowly and build up a nice pace – really helps anyone who is tired. Soon the cobwebs are gone and you get into your own setting. After 30mins on Jog1 I felt great and kind wished I’d pushed onto Jog2 (will do that tomorrow morning). Spent another 15-20 mins doing the body sculpting and really felt good.

Having crawled up the stairs almost an hour earlier I literally bounced down them to the car park and have felt great all day.

Hope Jog2 is as kind to me as the staff are tomorrow!!!

Ah the joys of Jog2 – really really enjoyed it.
It’s a really good session and felt brilliant when I came off it.
Jumped onto the Body Sculpting at Level3 10Reps and was very happy when the final stretches kicked in.
