What do you think of the new ad campaign from safe foods where they are asking people to measure themselves and see if they are overweight.

They suggest if a woman measures more than 32 inches around her belly button area and a man more than 37 inches, they may need to look at changing their diet & gettingmore exercise.

Do you think people will actually measure themselves?

I have been hearing and reading about this for some time. Appears to make sense.

Example – if I go onto weight watcher or myspecialk – I am deemed to have a bmi within the normal range and am not considered in need of weight loss.

After two babies, I have definately put on a bit of weight around the tummy and find it hard to get trousers in a size 14. I am totally unfit. I am about a stone heavier than I used to be. I used to be just about in the normal bmi- at the lower end but still a size 12.

Its so hard to get rid of belly fat after a baby….have to admit, I am dreading that part of getting back into shape after this baba arrives. At the moment I love my belly, its so full and round but in 3-4 months I won’t be so happy with it. The joys of motherhood eh?!

Seen a woman use it on the news, she was tiny and yet it put her into overweight as the was 33 inches
i would be overweight if i measured, but just goes to show 90% of us would be 😆 😆 😆

    There’s no hope for me 😳 😳 .

I would have a 34inch waist I would say or maybe I am being kind but my fitness levels are ok, I think. I walk between 8 and 10kms most days and Zumba class on Thursdays, so hopefully I am doing some good.

Its a horrible ad but it has grabbed everyones attention so thats a good thing.

Yes, it would appear that all us mammys are going to die young. There has to be other factors to consider. I read somewhere recently that you could actually be quite fat for your height but if your waist was within the 32in – then you would not be at the same risk as those of us that just have the belly fat. Apparently, belly fat is the most dangerous.

So, if we are eating well and exercising but still have it – what are we supposed to do to get rid of it????????
