meathmamofour replied to the topic Noriday pill…anyone familiar with it? Need advice QUICK! in the forum National Chat 14 years, 6 months ago
noriday is the mini pill, yes? on this pill you are not covered once you break the cycle..so even if you take it but forget a few hrs from the usual time you are considered not covered.
as for the "antics" resulting in pregnancy – it all depends on where you are in your cycle. You can conceive up to 4 days before ovulation and during your…[Read more]

There are some hospitals that have a set time for childbirth – they have a huge volume of births and want women through the process as quick as possible. you have to find a way to carve out the time for yourself girls. No matter what. It can be a thankless job being at home – so give yourself the time to re-charge the batteries…it will do the whole house good!
regarding the comments….my top fave is "Isn’t he great!!" when people learn dh is home with the kids. Eh, they are his kids too! His…[Read more]

Are you tracking your cycles in any other way? As you are irregular, using temping or cervical mucus tracking may provide you with more insight as to where you are in your cycles.
In terms of cramping it could be one of 3 options
1. you are ovulating – I experience heavy cramping (usually in one side but sometimes all over) the night before I…[Read more]

she could have at least done her research…. but then that wouldn’t give her the sensationalist ‘provocative’ article she wanted.
The article is based on the Wax study from the Lancet which said that having a home birth triples the rate of infant mortality but dramatically decreases the rate of maternal morbidity. In other words, home birth is…[Read more]

meathmamofour replied to the topic Public or Private or MLU in the forum Pregnancy & Birth 14 years, 7 months ago
I would have eaten off my left hand for the chance to birth in the MLU – if its an option for you, seriously consider it! It is like another realm to a CLU – which is the care model you will get in the rest of Ireland. MLU is midwifery led – so very focused on normal birth practice and women-centred care. You will have access to a small team of…[Read more]

Huge Congrats!
I have no experience with your specific situation so no advice to offer – however – I would prescribe to the thinking that its best to (try!!!) relax and assume all is going well and baby is growing normally unless there is a reason to worry.
Best of luck and congrats again!

I think its depressingly sad really… we were on such a high after the Dublin vs Meath match and the kids were really getting into it.
Now I have my eldest, who plays GAA in Meath the last 3yrs, saying "its just like France, mammy. I don’t want them (Meath) to win anymore"

meathmamofour replied to the topic Routinely breaking waters – normal? in the forum Pregnancy, Mums2Be, Birth, New Parents 14 years, 8 months ago
the evidence for best practice says that in normally functioning labour (ie. mum and baby are doing well) it is best to keep the waters intact and that breaking the waters does not make labour faster.
with the waters gone, contractions do become more intense as the bag of waters cushions the head – so its common to hear mums say that they…[Read more]

I had a really positive experience on my 3rd baby in OLOL. I arrived in quite close to giving birth and had a great midwife Amelda was supportive of the type of birth I hoped for – hands off.
My 4th baby was a very difficult pregnancy and I was pretty apprehensive about going in for the the birth. I got to OLOL at 9cm but had a very difficult…[Read more]

meathmamofour replied to the topic Should the Meath v Louth game be replayed in the forum National Chat 14 years, 8 months ago
No, it shouldn’t be replayed – the title should be for Louth! Louth were a point up before that goal was given with only seconds left of injury time. If the goal was illegal and doesn’t stand – the cup should go to Louth as rightful winners.
Very disappointing that Meath are on record saying that it was a legal goal. In his heart, Joe knows it…[Read more]

FYI for anyone interested!
It appears to be a rumor or Mullens have changed their minds!
Mullens is running a bus up and back – day trips – for all 3 days of Oxegen. Buses leave 2 hrs before first gig goes on – from Black Bull at 12:15pm – and then heads back to Drogheda 1 hr after last gig – and its only €15 return
