What’s in Your Makeup?
When it comes to picking a foundation, the effects of the ingredients they contain can be more than just skin deep. Do you find you still break out or flare up with your makeup?
Being a skin specialist and makeup artist I can tell you I have done much research in this area. You can break out due to ingredients in the formulas not mineral makeup in general.
All cosmetic products contain a certain amount of bacteria, prompting manufacturers to add preservatives. Parabens are toxic and allergenic synthetic chemicals used extensively as preservatives in cosmetic products. Preservatives are not added to protect the consumer from bacteria, however, but to extend the shelf life of the product.
One of the main common filler ingredient used in cosmetics and is a leading ingredient in some mass marketed mineral makeup is Bismuth Oxychloride. It is used in makeup because it gives the makeup a silky feel, good slip (it applies well to the skin and doesn’t drag on the skin) which helps it to stay on your skin.
However the bismuth can also cause breakouts, itching, blotchy skin especially if they get warm and acne by congesting pores and can cause rosacea to flare. It is not an actual mineral but a metal that has been processed. It can also make your pores look twice as big even if you have very nice skin.
If you want a great mineral makeup that covers really well, lasts all day, is light, airy, natural looking and leaves a dewy celebrity glow I really suggest you try Bellapierre Mineral Makeup contains 100% minerals – no talc, Bismuth Oxychloride or any other chemicals or harmful ingredients.

I love love love my foundation from Biofresh. Its a mineral one and is so long lasting which makes it great value. It feels really light on and gives great coverage too and I like that its not full of nasty chemicals.
The make-overs in store are brilliant. Its 25 euro without lashes or 30 with lashes (well worth going for the lashes, they are natural and so light on but look amazing) and you have the option of picking 25 or 30 euro worth of product which is redeemable against the make-over – which makes the make over free!! Such excellent value.
