Member****AIMSI Survey closes December 31st 2009**** AIMS Ireland, the Association for Improvements in the Maternity Services Ireland, is a consumer led voluntary organisation that was formed in early 2007 by mothers dissatisfied with the Maternity Care System in Ireland. Our goal is to highlight and campaign for normal birth and mother-friendly birth practices in Ireland which is supported by evidence-based research and International Best Practice.
In addition to our campaigning work, we offer independent support and information on maternity choices and care to women and their families.
What Matters To You? (2009)
A maternity care experience surveyAIMS Ireland is interested in finding out what matters most to pregnant women and their families. How were you affected by previous experience? What improvements would you like? This will help us gain a better understanding of what is most important to the women we represent with regard to their care during and after pregnancy.
AIMS Ireland ran the first "What Matters to You?" survey in 2007. It received a huge response (327 respondents) and from these results we were able to do many things such as:
• Speak to Government and healthcare governing bodies about the future of maternity care in Ireland;
• Meet with service providers and discuss experiences and expectations of service users of maternity care in Ireland;
• Give insight presentations to midwives and student midwives at conferences about maternity care in Ireland;
• Contribute to articles in the media based on survey results;
• Plan our campaigns, activities and events for 2008 and beyond.A sincere thank you to all of you who contributed to the 2007 survey, enabling us to do this important work. It is essential that women’s voices help to shape the maternity services that women and their families expect and are entitled to.
Due to the success of the first survey and in an effort to keep as up to date as possible regarding women’s experiences and expectations of care, we are running another [b]“What Matters to You?â€
