Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any recomendations for family break in Ireland with a 2 1/2 yr old and 3 mth old baby. We are treating ourselves to a hotel break. Did Kerry last yr which was nice but too far to travel. Preferably somewhere where the toddler can be entertained and is has good baby facilities.

    Thanks, Patrice

I just got an email from the Castlecourt in Westport, they were voted top 10 family/childrens hotel in the country… my advice to save a few quid, would be not to book a family break with the hotel a 3 night B&B&D would set you back about 500e… if you look at the deals you can get 2 nights B&B & 1Dinner for about 100e per person, the kids stay free. So you could get 4 nights (if you book 2 offers) B&B and 2 Dinners for 400e and the two nights you dont have dinner you could do Mc Donalds or something like that

The Brennan hotels are very good, they have one in Clonmel and another in Arklow, they have lenny the lion kids club, not sure about the age they allow the kids in at, but great family hotels

We stayed at the Brennan hotel in Clonmel and it was very expensive for dinner – the room & hotel & pool was lovely but the food quite pricey and it is a long journey.

We stayed in the Carlton in Bunclody, Wexford with our kids a few years back and it was lovely, nice rooms, nice pool and not too far to travel. The food was excellent too and lots of of nice things in the area to do and places to visit. Very family friendly, we had interconnecting rooms with lots of space which was nice.

The Supervalu breaks are great value, you get 2 nights B&B and dinner for 109 pp and the kids usually stay free, you just have to pay for their dinners and often, baby bowls are free. You can get a break away when you sign up to a supervalu card – just signing up for one gets you enough points for a family break. They do 3 star, 4 star and 5 star breaks and family home breaks too. There is only ten euro in the difference of the 3 & 4 star breaks, and we have stayed at some lovely hotels on these deals. Here is a link: http://www.supervalugetawaybreaks.com/i … faultEvent

Fota Island Wildlife resort and hotel is great, thats in Cork and there are loads of great family offers on there that include overnight stay with entry to the park.

The park is fab, its like a zoo with tigers, giraffes, monkeys and then there are lots of little animals, like mara’s that are roaming around free and birds and ducks you can feed.

There are playgrounds in Fota too, so lots to do to keep the kids occupied and with the new road to Cork, its a straight drive down.

We are going in July – can’t wait!
