I have been having pain in my breasts, particularly the left breast, over the past two weeks. It has been very sore when I take my bra off to change out of my clothes to get into pajamas etc

It is fine during the day when I have a bra on as it is quite well supported as I always wear good well fitted bras but when I take that off, it is very tender to touch or when it moves and I have been getting shooting pains inside of it.

There is a history of breast problems in my family, my mother and aunt have both had multiple surgeries to remove lumps (not cancerous thankfully) but it is not something I would never ignore, so I made an appointment with my GP for today to see her about it.

She did a full examination and discovered that I have ropey tissue in my left breast. She said it may be hormonal and that when my period comes, which is due this weekend, that it may well just go away as my hormones regulate again.

She said its nothing to be worried about but to go back to her to have if checked again in 2 weeks.

I didn’t realise until she said ‘Don’t worry’ that I actually was worrying. My mother in law had breast cancer last year and I know some women who have been through it who are around the same age as me, so it can be scary just making the appt to have it checked.

Wanted to post about it on here because I think its something that affects alot of us and the more open we are about these things and the more we get them checked, the better for us.

I’ll post again after I go back in two weeks or if it goes away after my period comes to let you know what’s happening.

I had the same type of lumps at the end of last year & my doctor sent me to the hospital for a mammogram (not the most pleasant of experiences a bit like the awkwardness of a smear test) & then i got sent for an ultrasound & then an examination by the head consultant & happily he said that they were normal lumps.he said it could be to do with my pregnancy or hormones in general.

Let us know how you get on & try & not worry (although i know thats easier said than done as i was worrying the whole 2 weeks before my hospital appointment!)

My period arrived this morning and my breasts are so sore! I do not usually get this when I am coming up to a period so this is a new thing for me. Hopefully in a few days it will settle down and all will be back to normal when I go back to doc.

The trials and tribulations of being a woman!!
