The bodies of the two fishermen missing off the north Co Dublin coast for over a week have been found.

The two men had not been seen since attending to their lobster pots on 1 April.

Ronan Browne, 26, and David Gilsenan, 41, were reported missing last Friday after they left Skerries to check lobster pots but failed to return to the harbour.

A significant search operation has been carried out since then.

At 1.40am, a fishing vessel – the Guiding Light – discovered the bodies of the two men trapped together in its fishing gear.

The discovery was made five miles east of Clogherhead, Co Louth, and the RNLI all-weather life boat was on scene within half an hour and brought the bodies of the two men ashore.

Our fundraiser today in Laurence Town centre has been postponed. We intend to hold an event to raise money for the local water rescue here in Drogheda. We hope to hold our event next saturday. We will keep you posted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with David & Ronans familys. RIP and welcome home

I think its so comforting to them. Its lovely that the boat was called "The Guiding Light".

We have a prayer vigil tonight on the harbour in Skerries at 8.30pm by candle light to guide David & Ronan home

    Always in my thoughts x

I only heard it on the news this afternoon, very touching that the boat was called "The Guiding Light" it was the light that guided those men home…. Its very sad but brilliant news that their bodies have been returned to their families.

God love the poor fishermen who found the bodies in their nets, must have very traumatic and shocking find for them
