My daughter was diagnosed with silent reflux when she was 7 months old and due to the late diagnoses it has caused a good bit of damage.
She was prescribed Infant Gaviscon for two months but it hasnt made a bit of difference.
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any feeding or sleeping techniques i could try to help ease her?
Also considering the Gaviscon didnt work if anyone knows what the hospital might do next? I’d like to know a little before i got up there!

    Thanks all!

    Hi there,

The poor little thing. I suffer from reflux on and off over the last few years. Generally, for adults, the treatment is drugs – which take the problem away for a few years. Not sure how you would go about treating a baby. They also recommend that you keep the head raised higher that the tummy. Seeing as you cannot use a pillow, you could raise the head of the cot – this will only work if baby does not move about – little of no chance of that! Also, for adults, they recommend that you eat smaller meals and more often. Again, not something that you could do with a baby.

Perhaps you could google it – but bear in mind, do not believe everything that you read on the internet.

Best wishes to you and the little one.

My cousins baby was diagnosed with this a coule of months ago now bearing in mind she was only a baby at the stage, she hated to be held etc etc and they couldnt understand why, it was only when she got some bug and was admitted to hospital did they find out. As far as I know she takes some sort of drug and has had her feed chaged to a non lactose one and she is a different child altogether!!
Sorry I cant be of more use but thats all I know. She is nearly 7 months old now.

Thank you both for your reply!
My DD was sent to a specialist in the ENT clinic in Temple street and has a returning visit next month! there was talk of putting in a camera to see how bad the damage was.
Mammycool: thanks yes we have had the mattress of her cot raised at the head but it doesnt help! She has recently sterted sleeping on her side (on her own) and it has made a bit of a difference to her. The doctor adn myself had to work out a meal journal for her. It does include eating a little often. thanks for your help
Yummymummy: your cousin is so lucky they caught it early. The specialist in Temple street couldnt believe it took my doctor so long to realise there was a problem (she originally thought i was over worrying! I’ve since changed doctor) I tried the non lactose formula but to no avail! she won’t drink it at all! fussy little thing!! She gets a throat infection on average every 3 weeks sos your cousin is lucky she doesnt have to go through that!! haha!
