Seen a few people talking about Knitting lately and another few who say they’d love something to do in the evening whilst watching TV but can’t knit, stop them from eating.
What about Cross-Stitch. I don’t do very much of it now but I’ve done some lovely pictures in the past. Its only one type of stitch, basically a small tack or running stitch and its like painting with numbers. There is a magazine called "Quick Cross-stitch", always has a small chart on the front so its an easy way to start off, the beginners stitches are in the back of the magazine also. You will probaly find this month loads of valentine things in it, its always about a month ahead of whats coming up.
Its very quick to see what your making, my problem with knitting is, I do the back of the cardigan or jumper, and half way up the front I get bored and throw it there and then it goes out of fashion.
With the cross-stitch, the thing is do small little pictures, you can get fridge magnet sized ones or do your own Greetings Cards, which are quick and simple to do and if you like that and fancy doing something a bit bigger…. get a kit of something you really love the look of because even if you do drop it for a while it won’t go out of fashion when it is finished. I started a tapestry when my eldest daughter was about 6 months. I worked on it for about a year and then time went against me it was put in a box. 12 years later when I had Sarah, I finished it, its hung up on the wall now 3 years and I love it, love the fact that when anyone admires it, I can say I made that.
