    Hi girls,

Was wondering if any of you could recommend anywhere for me to take DH for his 30th birthday? It’s been ages since we’ve been out for a meal and the babysitters booked (my parents are coming!) so we’re ready for a good night out!

The plan is to have a meal on our own early-ish and then meet friends later for drinks. So, I’m looking for somewhere a bit special, type of food not too much of a problem as we love most things, not too expensive as although it’s a v special night we also don’t want to go too mad! Oh and it has to be in town really so we don’t have a big trek from the restaurant to meet the lads after.

    Sooo any ideas girls???

We went to the DHotel for my dps birthday, it was lovely…I know that hotel restaurants can be dodgy but i cant fault the d…the food was fab, I think the chef was new at the time and its reasonable too…of course the added advantage is that you can have drinkies in the bar and they dont call you to the table too early!!. Its nice and central too. I also like the italian across from scotch hall..bella atina i think but its a bit casual maybe for a special night out..good luck and enjoy.

Lemon Grass in Bryanstown is lovely, food tasty, decor modern & service great.

I like D’Vine too, the menu may be a little limited but food very good & atmosphere is great. I always feel like i’m abroad when there.

    Enjoyyour night.

    where’s the kning of kings???

try romanza it’s at back of town centre and bru around the corner, also la gondola, it’s just across from bru, if like thai food there’s the pink elephant…..or indian shalimar, (and can bring own drink) that’s up at the cross roads near the star and crescent, or further up bit of a walk, harry’s bar and grill on the mell road near aldi…..must say scholars is lovely too nice and special….bella atina down at the docks…..or the ,martello tower millmount, again a bit of a walk back to the town….
the boiled onion does a range of stuff, but i didn’t think was all that great to be quite honest, tables are too close to one another and can hear what the people next to you are saying, not great…..felt like a sardine….was dying to get out…..
hope that helps, there’s a range of resteraunts for you to choose from, enjoy your night whereever you choose….

Thanks girlies! I think we might go with the D because it sounds nice and we can have a quiet drink together beforehand. Thanks for the recommendations.

Will just have to work on that budget and sort a more regular babysitter to try the rest of the places on the list now!!
