    Hi,

I have a big problem. I moved about 3 months ago and still didnt get my rent allowence. I filled in the fiorm in July but moved in in August. There is now a new regislation since July 27. I have to get an assessment. So I went to the Town counsil where I am on the list to get a house and they sent a request to the Enviroment Health Officer. Unfortunately they couldnt provide me with a phone number, name or addresse. I basically have to wait for them to call me. But they didnt call yet, lack of staff and long list. So does anyone of you know how long I have to wait for this?? I am a single mother and afraid the landlord would throw us out if he doesnt receive the full rent soon (and back payment of course). What would my rights be?? Of what else can I do??

    Thanks for listening anyway

    Amy

    Hi Amy
Don’t have any expereince of this, but if I were you I’d go to/call your local Citizens Info office- they’ll know who to contact to get answers:

Your local cwo deals with rent allowence. The only assesment you have is when u get your rented house they come and inspect it..make sure its suitable……suitable amount of bedrooms and that no one else is living there. go see your local cwo.

i was on the housing list for nearly 5 years!!!! Decided to go down the affordable housing root and would u believe the day i went to sign contract on my house they rang and offered me a house!!! madness. i obviously declined…….and am very very happy to be in the position i am in. im sure your landlord will be fine just explain the situation to him/her.
