I had my baby 4weeks ago and my back is still very sore from the epidural. He did jab me three times to get it in so no wonder its acting up but is getting worse. Anyone ever get this after the epidural, i cant stand for long it really aches. Anyone recommend a back specialist etc that could help?

Happymammy you should be entitled to see the physo in OLOL. I had back problems during pregnancy sciatica(sp) what i thought was this came back after i had the kids. Went to the physio and they said that the pain was coming from the area in my spine that i got the epidural. Give the hospital or your consultant a ring and they should be able to help you. I’m sure the last thing you need with a new baby.May 20, 2008 at 7:22 pm #61847noeleenwMember
i had section 10 days ago and no back pain but on the section before that the anaesethist was shi*e and kept hitting the nerve in my spine after 4 attempts they got another anaesethist and he got it first go but the pain of them hitting the nerve was unreal 🙄 🙄May 20, 2008 at 7:37 pm #61849Taylor5Member
Ah Happymammy that terrible, I had a few problems after ds. The area was just tender for about 6 months afterwards and the odd time I would get shooting pains to the site of the epidural.
When I was getting the epi done, I think they give local pain relief to the site of the epidural, while he was trying to push the needle into my back i had to tell him about 3 times I could feel the needle, he just looked and laughed at me. He took the needle out and started again and it went in no problems, so I just think the area was a bit tender due to this.
You still havent had your 6 week check so your still under the care of the hospital, just ring the OLOL or your gpMay 20, 2008 at 8:31 pm #61854scole1Member
defo check with the hospital, i still get pain that’s another story but i could pin point and still can where i got spinal block for surgery after having ds, if i push on the area on my back to this day 29months later can still feel it, only starting going away after 1 half years as the pain continued further down but that’s to do with my 3rd degree tear i had having him…..but defo get it checked out sooner rather than later…..May 21, 2008 at 7:32 am #61865munchinParticipant
Happymammy you & babs are covered with the hospital intil babs is 6 weeks – if you ‘re not happy i’d get back to the hospital and have them check it out.
I had epidural & section and have never had a bother with it so if it’s causing you hassle i’d check it outMay 21, 2008 at 7:20 pm #61912
As always thanks for the replies i didnt realise i was still under their care and the baby. I will ring them tomorrow. Its very sore. Its an annoying deep pain i got my dp to dig his nuckles in to see if that releived it and i took painkillers but it didnt work. I would say that its a nerve he hit jabbing me that many times! Instead if actual muscle pain 🙄May 21, 2008 at 9:39 pm #61917Taylor5Member
Have you a hotwater bottle? It might ease the pain but you should ring the hospitalMay 25, 2008 at 9:22 am #62133rubymumMember
You could try Hypericum, its a homeopathic remedy partic. for shooting nerve pain and puncture wounds. My sister had a baby last week and had similar pain which cleared up really well with the Hypericum. You can get it in the health food shop (30c potency).
or if the pain is more achy try Arnica.
Best of luck with it.May 25, 2008 at 11:04 am #62142
Thanks a mill for the advice, its easing off now, i have the arnica i started taking that after giving birth as it helped great with the bruising etc on DD1 it worked again this time around aswell. I have a jacuzzi bath and that has worked great, the jets hit the spot 🙂
