For all you mums to be out there (or for curious mums who want a good read!!), here is an article from the Irish Independent about birth plans….

Might be some tips in there that mums to be may find helpful!!

    Great article!!

Preparation is so important. It’s ironic that we tend to put more thought into planning a holiday than one of the biggest days of our lives. Exploring your birth options (even if you don’t write them down) can go a long way to a more positive experience on the day.

I know, we spend months, even years, planning a wedding but hardly any time planning for birth.

I would say all mums to be should know the options available at the hospital they are attending (unless having a home birth of course!)

For eg. in some hospitals you are not allowed drink or eat during labour but in others you can

Some hospitals routinely break waters, others do not

Some have great VBAC (Vaginal birth after c-section) and some do not have any policy at all on it.

Its important to know what you want, make sure your hospital or midwife can support you and help you prepare for it.

Its a big day and planning it all part of the fun!!!
