Just a wee bit of information that I found out today and might come in useful to someone someday.

My eldest Daughter’s Father and I divorced nearly 10 years ago and he’s been living in the US for almost 8 years. I don’t have an address for him, I don’t really need one, he’s illegal out there and left a lot of debts behind him so to be honest I don’t want the responsibility of knowing it either.

Anyway because we’re divorced and he’s on her birth cert as he would be, I had to apply to the District Court for a waiver of his guardianship for the purpose of giving permission for a passport. A legal document had to be completed by me in the Courthouse and I had to apply for a court date to have her passport signed by a Judge.

So if your looking for a passport for your child and not in contact with their Dad if his name is listed on their birthcert, give yourself plenty of time!
