Hi all,
My little boy is 9 months old now and quite interested in solid food. Unfortunately, all that he can eat seems to be porridge and cooked & mashed fruit from a jar. Anything else he tries, comes right back up. He just gags on it, no matter how smooth I make it. This is a bit odd to me, as my eldest was so easy when it came to introducing solids. He started around 6 months and loved and ate anything and everything we served him. Has anyone experienced something similar? Should I be worried?
Thanks!!
December 31, 2009 at 11:08 pm #84710Taylor5MemberOh its such a stressful time… my ds2 wouldnt eat homecooked food at all…. i ended up mixing carrot and stewed apple or mashed potato and fish with pettis falous
You will get there in the end, what ever you find he likes mix it with everythng
my ds2 is 14 months, he would eat the legs off the table now but such a worry at the start… in saying that he would eat a petti pan bread roll and cheese for lunch or garlic bread and slice of pizza (not cut up) but if he finds as much as a pea in his dinner he will spit it out, wont eat lumps in his food/dinners but will eat chunks in finger food 😯
Stay calm and dont let him see the stres or tension…. maybe get someone else to try feed him if he is playing up
I found nursery rhymes or songs did the trick he would be engrossed and wouldnt realise he was eating (his potato and apple dinner lol)January 1, 2010 at 1:22 pm #84718nickysinglemumMembermy dd lived on bananas, carrots, peas and potatoes at that age she didn’t go near meat till she was 1 she didn’t like it. maybe he is just being picky choosing what he likes.

January 6, 2010 at 4:19 pm #85190Anna77MemberThanks a lot for the responses! I’m giving him tiny bits of bread at the moment and he seems to love that (although he pulls a disgusted face initially when he gets it in his mouth). Fingers crossed he’ll get the taste for something more adventurous soon. Like his brother who’s loved fish, olives, garlic, you name it, since he was two (but no milk…)!
January 7, 2010 at 9:51 am #85286munchinParticipanttaylor my dd2 is a bit like your ds2 – give her lumps in dinner and it all comes back at i you BUT give her toast or liga or biscotti and she eats it – she’ll have a go at banana etc but lumps in dinner not a hope! i keep trying to introcduce them but after a few days end up going back to smooth dinners to get something into her and like your ds2 will ALWAYS eat a petit filous but i never thought of mixing her dinner into it!
dd1 on the other hand would have ate everything in sight! -
