I have just registered for my first marathon in 2 weeks, valentines weekend. Its a 10k in the Phoenix Park. Friend of mine has taken up running aswell and she did her first mini marathon yesterday and has inspired me to do this one.
So need to keep up my training, not that concerned about the time i finish in, i would just like to run the whole way. There are 2 10K races in May, 1 is the Boyne Run and the 2nd is in Dundalk. They are 3 days apart and i was going to set myself the goal of running these 2 in the 3 days for charity. All great ideas, i might be rethinking this idea in a couple of weeks.
The challenge has now begun

February 13, 2010 at 12:11 am #89017Taylor5MemberHjs i dont have a clue but its only 13 miles sure if you were to walk it your get if done before nightfall 😆 😆 😆
I never went for a jog in my life but happy and i went the other night and did 6k and it was very very easy, surprised how easy it was.February 13, 2010 at 8:22 pm #89030AnonymousInactiveHJS it is possible, i am only running what 6 weeks and am proud to say the i finished my 10km today in a smashing time 60 mins 30 sec. Didnt stop ran all the way around. Some bring spark decided wouldnt it be a brilliant idea, to have the 9th km all up a large steep hill, nearly killed me but determined not to walk and the thrill in running back down the hill..
Real sense of achievement crossing that finish line and getting my first medal for running since my teens 😆 😆 Celebrations cancelled as my dad back in hospital so home tonight, glass of wine will probably knock me out..
Go for it HJS, i am planning on doing several 10kms this year then the half marathon in September and if my body is able for it the Dublin City Marathon. Start easy there are plenty of training guides on the web. You need to invest in a good pair of runners, check elverys, i got a great pair over xmas down from €120 to €60. Dont mind what anyone else does, set your own goals.February 13, 2010 at 9:29 pm #89033rossylisaMemberweldone 😀
