Always a family favourite is Dublin Zoo. This month a new baby Rhino Calf has been born at. Experienced mum, Ashanti gave birth to the healthy male calf at 4.30am on February 10th after a 16-month gestation period. The calf is estimated to weigh approx. 50kg.The youngster is Ashanti’s seventh calf and becomes the newest member of the seven-strong herd (also known as a crash) in the African Plains, including father Chaka. Lucky visitors will be able to get a glimpse of mother and calf by looking through the window into the Rhinoceros House. See more here

Some of our top places to go are:

Leisureplex – bowling, Quasar or play areas, loads to do for all ages groups!

Courtlough is an adventure centre just off the M1, outside Balbriggan. With zip wires and climbing walls, its for tyhe activity lovers. I got roped into doing a zip wire myself – much to my children’s amusement!!!

After a day of running around, the kids need to be fed and the new menu at Eddie Rockets is perfect. With kids meals for less then a fiver and new desserts too, as well as smoothies and shakes, this is a fun and filling lunch stop!

Viking Splash Tour – this is a super fun day out in Dublin. Really fun to drive around in the open air bus, wearing viking hats and then, the bus turns into a boat as it sails around the grand canal!!

Irish National Stud in Kildare is a wonderful spot for day out. Let the kids run around in the fresh air and see the horses and explore the fairy trail. we love it here!

Arc Cinema – when the rain comes, the movies is always a good option. We love Arc Cinema chain, excellent quality seating and sound and lots of yummy food choices. they also do a deal for 2 adults & 2 children (or 1 adult & 3 children) for movie entry, popcorn & drinks for €39.95.

Newgrange Farm, just outside Drogheda is a working farm with lots to see and do. With a cafe and picnic area baby chicks, play area and lots more, this is a great place to spend a day with the kids. They can even milk a cow!!
