I am going to the McWilliam Park, Claremorris with the family in Mayo next week, any suggestions of what to do whilst there?

March 29, 2010 at 12:58 pm #92617gcmcollieMemberThere’s a great little cafe on the Galway road where you can paint pottery pieces and they’ll fire it up in the kiln. Aimed really towards kids(girls). There’s a lovely petting farm outside Ballyhaunis with loads of things to do (I think it’s near ?Kilconnolly) – maybr try google. It’s only an hour from Galway. Enjoy. And of course visit Westport, it goes without saying. They have Westport house there

March 29, 2010 at 2:19 pm #92636happymumblemumParticipantits always nice to get away whatever the weather ..I love the pubs down in West Cork its the only time and place I ever drink..and its soo handy having baby sitters for the evenings..nice lazy days pottering around with dd and lovely evenings swilling pints of Murphys on our own 😉
March 29, 2010 at 2:38 pm #92637JedtKeymasterMayo is a gorgeous part of the country. The hotel might have kids clubs on as its mid term – you can check that out if you and your hubby fancy a bite alone? We popped ours into a kids club for movie night last time we went away – we gave them dinner at 5.30pm and popped them in at 6pm and we had until 8pm to ourselves – blissful!!
Hopefully the weather will be nice, Westport is lovely to walk around.
Enjoy yourselves and sure, even if it rains, a few raincoats will mean you can still get around. 😆
March 29, 2010 at 2:45 pm #92638hjsMemberWhat is it they say, no such thing as bad weather only bad gear?!!! lol!
Have those all in one kagool things so kids will be well protected whatever the weather altho of course dd considers themthe epitome of uncool!!!We go next Tues, 6th, so hoping for a heat wave by then!
March 29, 2010 at 4:46 pm #92651happymumblemumParticipantShould be getting better by then..although what do the forecasters know really…my dh still hasn’t forgiven them for forecasting that extra week of bad snow after Xmas then nothing came but rain..he thought he was home and dry so to speak for another few days off work..
I think it was Billy Connonlly that said that about the no wrong kind of weather..or at least he used it in his programme.

Ballyhaunis pet farm is fab – bouncy castles etc inside if raining.
Beside pottery place in Claremorris is also an indoor play place – owner very friendly. Nice playgroundCastlebar: bowling alley, go-karting beside one another (Also beautician across road – Ann Tobin????) Indoor play place there also (near Harvey Norman’s) Lovely libary used to do storytime – think around 4pm…. Depends on the age of your kids. Might need to give them a buzz.
Westport – save for a fine day if you can!! Very pretty. BUT is also a pool, I think, with slides etc. Can’t think of the name but tourist office should know it.
April 7, 2010 at 3:36 pm #93101hjsMemberClaremorris a lovely little town – horse riding, golf, fab playground all within v v v v v easy reach. Ventured out to Cong this am, gorgeous.
