Killarney 16 July 2010 – 01 August 2010
The festival promises an exciting mix of live music, street entertainment, outdoor theatre and arts workshops and performances to ensure that Killarney Summerfest 2010 will have something for all the family. Attractions will include an international Busking Competition which attracts street performers from all over the globe, Children’s Workshops, Teddy Bears’ Picnic, an extensive outdoor pursuits programme and majestic themed trips on the lakes of Killarney, to name just a few.
The town centre will be transformed into a myriad of family fun with international street performers, magicians and entertainers coming from across the globe.
Summerfest will be packed with fun activities for kids, including an expanded Arts & Creativity Workshops programme which will help children explore their creative side by, amongst other things, creating their own comic strips, kite and mask making, painting and exploring the world of rhythm and percussion. In addition, parents can enrol their children in a week long Arts & Crafts Summer camp for games, sports, drama, music, arts & crafts, dance, magic and clown workshops, photography and local outings.
Junk collectors and those keen to find a use for objects they may have lying around the house should be interested in “Junk Art – Don’t Rubbish It!”, an exhibition in association with Kerry Country Council in the Killarney Outlet Centre and will feature a range of creations – from artistic to wacky – made from household junk.
This exhibition is free and is sure to be one of the more unusual events in the festival programme.
