    Hi everyone,

I hope you found my St. Valentine’s Day Mini Book inspiring :D and was wondering if any of you are making cards or handmade gifts for St. Valentine’s Day.

I’m sure my kids will come home from preschool/school with a variety of heart shaped cut outs, lovingly painted and decorated  :D and they’ll all have to be hung proudly around the house.

This year we’re sending a Valentine’s Mini book packed with photos to both sets of grandparents, they’re always complaining that they never have any up to date snaps of the kids to show their friends, so this’ll be something they can put up on the mantlepiece.

I’d love to hear if there are any crafters out there in the Drogheda area.
I discovered my hobby about 3 years ago and love it. I find it a brilliant way to relax and it also gives me an excuse to get away every now and then and meet up with other crafters, many of whom have become great friends :D

Even if you’re not doing anything for February 14th, what is your hobby?

    Hi Scrappymum,

I have attempted a few homemade cards with DS and I love sending them…….

I have always wanted to find a craft that i could make and maybe sell at craft shows every so often, like you say more as an enjoyable hobby than a business but making just enough to cover costs and keep me at it…..

I used to make rag dolls and stuffed toys as a child but I came up with a lovely idea the other day so am setting wheels in motion now to start up my craft at last……..I will be making little blessing bags……I work closely with nature so these will be very individual and will be blessed by me….to give to people for luck and comfort…..I made some for some friends recently for a festival that we celebrate and made tiny little St Brigids crosses for the front of the bag……..enjoyed making them so much…….

Moonflower if you need reeds for your St Brigids crosses, there are tonnes in the field behind my house, but you might get your own in mornington

Ah, Gismo that sounds lovely. Your dh will be chuffed 😀

Moonflower, your blessing bags sound amazing. What a lovely idea to have come up with. There’s nothing nicer than receiving a handmade gift from a friend. Time is so precious nowadays and to think that someone values you so much that they’ve given some of that time to make something especially for you … well it’s priceless 😀 The very best of luck with your new venture 😀

    Hi Scrappy,

Exactly……i get so much pleasure out of giving gifts and a handmade gift always carries so much more…….I love Ds wearing the chunky cardies my mum has knitted him……he is so cute and cuddly in them and it feels as if he is wrapped in love from his nanny each time he wears them…..trouble is each time I wash them they seem to shrink 😳 😳

Scrappy mum, I know you run courses, but Moonflower, if your’e interested in trying out different craft making techniques, as I am, CraftMark run differentcourses now and then, and they’re quite reasonable, you could check it out – I know there’s a felt-making course coming up. The times are just a bit inconvenient for me with baby still in play school, but as soon as she’s in school, i’ll be doing a lot of these courses, as I like to try out different things all the time – jewellery, ceramics, etc.

    Hi there!

I am pursuing my photography ambitions and and teaching myself photoshop so I have been doing alot of cards, calendars etc etc of late. I have done wedding invitations in the past and wedding/party favours. I have 300 to do for a wedding in May eek. I have done photo pillows, t-shirts, bags etc. I have recently tried my hand at web graphicdesign as well to help a friend. I will try anything once 😆

I used to draw and paint but haven’t done too much of that in a very long time.

My friends and family have been encouraging me to start a business but I am not sure. I like to do these things and don’t like taking money from my friends 😆

I would like to learn some new craft techniques though. 😀
