    Hi Sabbi,

If the bite is just itchy and blotchy you could try some anti-histamine cream or oral medicine (or both) if your little girl is the appropriate age. This will help to prevent her scratching it and possibly introducing an infection. If however the bite is infected (quite swollen, hard, hot, angry red etc) then you may need to treat with an antibiotic medication and that would require a prescription. Either way try to make sure that she doesn’t scratch, pick or squeeze the bite and you can bathe in some warm water with antiseptic to keep it clean.

    I hope that helps,

    Regards

    Hi Sabbi,
It’s probably sorted by now but if not what does it look like? Itchy? Shiny? Hot? Swollen? Red? etc.

Went down to Hickey’s and had a chat with the pharmacist and she recommended an anti-histamine and antiseptic cream and thankfully, its grand now.

It was quite red and bumpy and the skin was slightly broken too but on mend now.

    That’s great,

Always good to have it looked at by the professionals.

    Glad to hear that Sabbi.

I was at a gaelic match last wed and people gotcovered in bites. No one saw or felt anything just had the big lumps to show for it later.
