ParticipantThis question got days of fun on holidays a few years ago, so I thought I’d pose it to see how many get them all!
Only 18 Irish acts have hit no.1 in the UK music charts since the charts began in November 1952. Can you name them all?? feel free to guess a few that you think and I’ll periodically say which ones are correct or not. It includes Northern Ireland as well. One of the good things isthat you can’t just google the answer because they never actually sorted them like that whenever they compiled the guinness book of hit singles! (sadly out of print now!)
And just to help a bit, no, the pogues, the dubliners, daniel o’donnell, samantha mumba or snow patrol never hit no.1 in UK (although ms. mumba was no.1 in both Ireland and USA!!)

ParticipantVery good Sabbi! All right except for the script! Their album went to no. 1 alright but the best single performance was "man who can’t be moved" which got to no. 2 😉

ParticipantNo and no for Joe Dolan! 😆
Still another individual out of one of the bands already correctly guessed, and might be worth thinking of up north and also of eurovision!! 😉
And the very first one (female) became part of cockney rhyming slang!
