Just back from a weeks holidays on Inishboffin off the north coast of Donegal. This is our 3rd year to go there. It is just so beautiful – the views are spectatcular- peaceful and full of simple pleasures – fishing with the kids of the pier – rock climbing and lots of swimming and beach games (one amazing golden beach at the back of the island and a smaller beach 10mts from the house by the pier).
You have to get a boat over – the journey is about 8mins. There are no shops on the island so you have to bring everything over with you (however the islanders are over and back to the mainland all the time and they will gladly pick up some stores for you if you run out). There are 2 cars and 1 tractor on the island so no need to worry about the kids and traffic!
Of course so much depends on the weather but in the 3 years we have gone we have always gotten lots of sunshine with the occassional gray day thrown in.
There is only one place to stay – there is a website – http://www.teachjohnny.ie

Has anybody else got a great place that they love to go and would like to share the info?
