I have a few different books on weaning & they all say different things about when to introduce eggs.some say not to introduce it before 6 months but dont wait till after 7 months either.they also say introduce the yolk & egg white separetely.
Have any of you had your baby have a bad reaction to eggs?
I know they say if there are allergies in the family to delay introducing it aswell….
mmm i waited until they were nearer one – my older girl hates them and will not touch them calls them smelly eggs 🙄 my 3yr old now loves them but she’s really only able to eat them now for some reason when she’d eat them she’d end up with tummy cramps but now she’s that little bit older she regularly has eggs for breakfast with mammy on a sat & sunday.
I’m not sure about the exact guidlelines but i went with what my sister said at the time to be honest but i do know they do say to delay giving them if there is allergies in the family
I gave mine eggs at around 9 months old. Always did scrambled egg for them so they had the yolk and white at the same time. I was told by the nurse at my doctor’s surgery to make sure that they had eggs before 10 months old so that we could see if they took a bad reaction to them before the MMR was given. I think the MMR vaccination is suspended in egg protein (only going from memory here) so that was the reason for that.
Best of luck. Yes it’s a minefield – I’ve been given different weaning advice on each child!
actually louthman i think you’re right about the mmr – my sister had told me to give them eggs to make sure they had no reaction before getting the mmr.
I did still wait until they were nearer one to do it – wish i could get the older child to eat them but she refuses them what ever way i offer them -scambled,poached, boiled, mashed up in a cup with butter, egg bread nope won’t touch them
Thanks ladies, think i will hold off a little bit longer so,she is just over 6 months now.this whole introducing new foods lark is melting my brain!!
