    This is on too….

Boyneside Samhain – Be a Tourist in your own Town!

On the eve of Halloween, October 30th, the medieval town of Drogheda will come to life with the celebration of Boyneside Samhain. This will be a fun filled event for all of our community to come and celebrate the wonderful culture and heritage in our town and youcan be part of it!

To begin the festivities, we are creating a Human Boyne river to flow through the streets of Drogheda and to do it we need you! We need a thousand people to gather, dressed in blues and greens representing the River Boyne.

We will meet in the car park behind the Abbey Shopping Centre at 2.30 on the 30th of October, the day of Boyneside Samhain.
On arrival you will be provided with free balloons and face paints and there will be music and street theatre to keep everyone entertained!
Once gathered our river will begin its journey meandering it’s way up through the town, slowing down at times to enjoy the surprise performances at our cultural hotspots. The Human Boyne will finish its journey by joining the river beside Scotch Hall where a host of entertainment and activities for all ages will follow!

As part of this we are also having a celebration of lights & water with our Pumpkin candles. To be a part of this, you, along with your family and friends simply get a pumpkin and carve it out!

The best bit is, our theme is Newgrange and you get to choose your mythical design from this! At twilight we will illuminate our pumpkins along the river to represent the welcoming of the new Celtic year.
    Sounds exciting? It will be!!

To sign up today simply email us at humanboyne@gmail.com or call to the Local Heroes Hub in 106 West Street, Drogheda.
