Am stuck in the house at the moment as my baby is sick (he usually lying on me so I cannot move) and I have taken to watching alot of daytime tv….is it just me or does it become quite addictive??? Now I know Jeremy Kyle is an idiot (my God how did he get that job!!) but I am starting to really look forward to it…So it got me thinking:
What are your guilty pleasures? The things that may not be good for you (or that others would tut-tut at) but that cheer you up when you’re feeling down….Mine are:
A) Crap chat shows (not celebrity interviews (BORING!!) but real life stories)
B) Crap magazines (you can keep your "Hello" and "OK", I want "Love It" and "Take a Break"….true stories from weird people)
C) Lie ins (the type when you hear your 3yr old having a tantrum and you can roll over and sigh "not my turn"….until you have to intervene 10 minutes later as daddy is now also having one, but nice while it lasts….
D) Nights off (not being someone’s mammy or wife/partner for a few hours, just being you with your friends, having a few drinks and laughing until you cry, usually about the kids/hubby/partner but thats OK too…
E) Knowing you should be going on your crosstrainer/exercise bike/to the gym but getting a DVD and takeaway instead…..oh so much nicer!!!!!!July 3, 2009 at 11:09 am #75138
Just thought of another one…..
E) Having the takeaway left overs for breakfast the next day….you can keep your Special K!!! Cold pizza/reheated indian….YUMMMMM!!!July 3, 2009 at 12:58 pm #75140yummymummyMember
oh reheated pizza, gotta love it!!
im addicted to Maury Povich talk show…..WHO’S THE DADDY!!!!!!July 3, 2009 at 6:31 pm #75146
MAURY WHO??? I thought you were talking about a pizza from Aldi! 😳July 3, 2009 at 7:11 pm #75149JedtKeymaster
A big chunk of Toblerone – after the kids have gone to bed of course! I don’t want to share it with them. They get enough treats so that one is all mine mine mine!!
Reading a good book and propping my feet up on the couch. Preferably with a glass of chilled Chablis beside me (Thanks to Super Valu for selling a reallygood Chablis for under a tenner!)
My husband making pancakes on a Sunday morning as I am rolling over in bed enjoying my lie in. I love waking up to the smell of them. (I cook most of the dinners anyway, so its just as well he repays us all the odd Sunday morning!)
Casualty on a Saturday night – I know its kitsch but my mam used to always watch so I’m kind of following on the tradition…..
p.s. Babs, hope your little guy feels better soon, before you OD on Jeremy Kyle!!July 3, 2009 at 8:36 pm #75155
I must confess, I sometimes sneak a peek at programmes like Hollyoaks and The Hills (on MTV)…I know they are made for teenages but I like to pretend sometimes that I am one (well I am young at heart even if my boobs are heading south)….July 3, 2009 at 9:11 pm #75158libby1Participant

Oh I too shook my head in disgust at the thought of Jeremy once, but he really does grow on you!!!! Not that I respect or even like him (he is a total fool) but it is addictive!!! Am raging I missed that one…nothing better than the elderly enjoying themselves!!! Glad to report that my little man is on the mend (we got some sleep at last!!) but sadly this also means the end of my guilty pleasure of Jeremy….well for the next little while!!July 4, 2009 at 4:38 pm #75176Taylor5Member
