Low-cost face mask treatments from your fridge.

No need to waste all your cash on costly products when everything you require can be found in your kitchen! Best of all, it will be natural and you’ll know exactly what you’re putting on your face. After all, if it’s good enough to eat it can’t do any harm to your skin. All of these beauty treats can be made easily at home from the contents of your fridge and larder! Here’s a few of our favourites…

    Banana facemask
Clarifying facial mask, good for all skin types (to be used occasionally).

    Ingredients:

    2 over ripe bananas,
    1 tablespoon of natural yoghurt
    1 teaspoon of honey

Mash up the bananas into a paste. Add the yoghurt and honey then mix up. Smear all over your face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Wash off to reveal fresh glowing skin.

    Honey mask
Nourishing mask for all skin types.

    Ingredients:

    Two egg yolks,
    Two tablespoons of honey
    Three drops of almond oil.

If you want to pick up a tired dull complexion try combining honey and egg yolks, the results will be astounding! Blend the egg yolks, honey and almond oil together. Pat on, let dry for 20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.

    Cucumber mask
Radiance mask for face and eye area.

    Ingredients:

    1 cucumber
    1 tablespoon of natural yoghurt

Grate the cucumber and squeeze off some of the water. Cover and put in the freezer for 5 mins or in the fridge for 15 mins. Reserve two teaspoons of cucumber and mix the rest with the yoghurt. Dampen two pieces of kitchen roll with cold water. Put half of your reserved cucumber in the centre of one piece and wrap up. It should look like a tea bag. Do the same with the other one. You can also use damp surgical gauze instead of kitchen roll if you have some. These are to go over your eyes. Slap on the mask, whack the pads on your eyes and relax! Wash off after 10-15 mins.

    Tomato mask
    For oily skin.

    Ingredients:

    One ripe tomato
Mash up a ripe tomato and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm (not hot) water.

    Moisturising foot treatment
    For baby-soft feet

    Ingredients:

    Olive oil

This treatment will give you softer feet; it’s easy and very effective! All you do is massage olive oil into your feet before you go to bed! For added benefits, wear socks to bed and the movement in your sleep will give a slight exfoliating effect.

    Winter salad facemask
    To perk up skin.

    Ingredients:

Selection of veg (e.g. cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, lettuce, spinach, bean sprouts) jojoba oil.

Take fresh vegetables and wash thoroughly. Whizz in a food blender or mash with a pestle and mortar, and add a few drops of jojoba oil if your skin is very dry. Apply to a cleansed face, then lay two tissues over the top (to absorb excess liquid). Leave for 15-20 minutes, then rinse.
