Has anyone out there the same story as us?? We have a DD aged 2 with a life threatening peanut allergy and an egg allergy. We have been to gp’s, consultants, specialists since she was a year old – and have been told basically that she should grow out of the egg allergy but the peanut allergy is lifelong. We have read books and are members of The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network in America which i must say are great with keeping us up to date on current research and day to day experiences families are going through with a bimonthly newsletter. I was wondering is anybody out there in the same boat as us ?? It would be great if we could start a little support network to help, support, advise and reassure each other. Please get in touch
Love

November 3, 2009 at 8:40 pm #80931beamsMemberHi Kate
I gave her peanut butter unbeknownst to me the outcome. Anyway, she is thriving now – we read every ingredient label before we give her anything so its a matter of managing it and being in control of her diet completely . Its a habit we have just have had to develop. Thanks for asking she is great now!! 😀November 4, 2009 at 8:46 am #80949missysmumMemberHi Beams, god very scary for you, i’m so glad to here shes ok now.
i wanted to ask you if you know where you can have allergy testing done for children as young as two? i suspect my dd has food allergies and would love to have it confirmed so we can start tackling the problem properly.thanks.
November 4, 2009 at 1:03 pm #80983beamsMemberHi missysmum
She was initially tested in the hospital for 4 things! Imagine – i wanted her tested for a range of allergens but they don’t. After that she would have small reactions and i would take her to hospital but they just prescribed creams so i was no nearer resolving the offending foods. So we got her tested privately in a Dublin Clinic. Can PM you details if interested as they were good – its not cheap but its peace of mind for you and your family.November 4, 2009 at 1:53 pm #80988missysmumMemberit would be great if u could pm those details to me and also an indication of approx how much it should cost.
many thanks.

Done that ! Am relatively new to the site so not too sure about posting personal details on the main forum – so anyway – hope the info helps and if you need more help post me – please god she is fine and anything she may be allergic to will be minimal .
😀November 4, 2009 at 9:39 pm #81013missysmumMemberhi beams, thanks i got that. i dont believe that any of her suspected allergies are life threatening, but i do think they are worsening another condition she has, so i want to rule out and get rid of anything that may be causing a problem. thanks again for the info.
