Took my 5 year old to Fit kids dance class today for the first time and was really impressed with it. It was a crazy kind of ‘organised mayhem’ but what stood out most was how much fun the kids were having.

It was such a tonic, been very busy lately and after a stressful summer, have to say, I laughed my head off today at the kids, it was just so adorable. Some of them were quite small and they were taking it so seriously, it was really sweet. I was in between laughter and happy tears as I watched my daughter trying to breakdance

My 5 year old exclaimed ‘That was fabulous’when we were leaving and she cam straight home to practise for next week. I can’t wait to go back, its a lovely thing to watch a bunch of kids dancing blissfully happily like that. Such a simple yet clever idea.

I think they are two different classes – FitKids FitTeens Dance Club hold classes in Laytown and Drogheda and the Fitkids.ie site is more exercise and gymnastics. My daughter did the fitkids summercamp (not the dance one!) in Balbriggan when she was 3 and loved it, she can still do a perfect tumble, would have sent both of them this year but there was no class close by.

i went last year in Laytown and it was 7 euro each time, you sign your name on every time. Good fun but my kids being a bit shy werent really encouraged to join in and follow the others. Some kids know the routines and have great fun i found that a lot were left out.

I have been on about this class for years on here on many different threads.

My dd went for years to the Mell School one Fridays 4-5 pm so thats the only one I know about ..it is fantastic Jacinta the coach has such passion and Energy and then there is Sly…well what can I say he is the most amzing dancer ever and the kids adore him ( him and his crew have been on telly loads of times even on Sky programmes not just rte) also for all teh ladies out ther ehe is easy enough on the eye too 😉

I have never seen kids getting left out there ..Jacinta always makes a point to come and bring the shy ones in to the group..parents can stay and watch which I always loved.

Some of the routines are very hard for them to follow but its not about perfecting them its about fun..

Now dd is nearly 7 she is a little too old for the young class but too young for the older class..its an awkard age almost as the next class up is a whole different level and dd has two left feet 😆

It was perfect for my 5 year old, I’m not sure about my 3 year old, think shes a bit young for it at the moment. Its so much fun…the shy kids were brought in and given a boost to get them going, all the kids seemed to really enjoy it. its lovely to see them so enthusiastic and uninhibited.

It’s 7 euro a week, pay as you go.

the Laytown one was very busy yesterday so might be worth looking at where else its on

My dd used to go to this in the old westgate gym…she loved it, she won a few trophies aswell for it, then the girl who ran it wasnt doing the younger girls in there any more, and then it shut down, I always wanted to get her back into it,
