    Hi everyone,

My name is Yvonne Brady and I have recently set up a company called EVB Sports Shorts, producing sportswear designed specifically for women who need extra support in the pelvic floor area whilst exercising. You can have a look at our first product – sports shorts – on our website which is linked from the Mumstown home page.

I first came up with the idea when I was training for the Dublin Marathon in 2010, after having my third child. The damage having 3 children can do to your pelvic floor became very evident and my search for exercise clothing that could help came to nothing. What I did discover is that many many women have similar kinds of issues and that 1 in 4 of women who develop weakened pelvic floor muscles give up regular exercise or sport as a direct result.

Hearing from other women, I realised that I was not the only one and this gave me the courage and incentive, not just to speak out about the issue, but also to do something practical about it!

Our shorts have specially designed support panels that go above and beyond normal tummy control pants. They hold you up and in – in all the right places and provide support just where it is needed.

I have been getting great feedback from women who have bought the shorts – telling me that they can now exercise in comfort without worrying about their pelvicfloor. Also, Mumstown Experts, Bodyright Physiotheraphy have tried the shorts and, I am delighted to say, are happy to recommend them to women experiencing a range of issues, in conjunction with a pelvic floor strengthening exercise programme.

I am dedicated to bringing this issue "out of the closet" as it were, to breaking the social taboo surrounding Stress Urinary Incontinence issues and to informing women on how to help combat the problem through kegel and core muscle exercises – as well as wearing the shorts of course!

Please do visit our website or facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/EVBsport) for more details or to order a pair for yourself.

    Yvonne.

I will be wearing a pair this week for exercising and am looking forward to seeing how they feel on. After 4 kids, I could do with some extra support in that area!!!

Its a great product idea – I know so many women who are afraid to do certain exercises or even jump on a trampoline with their children because of their pelvic floor and the worry that they may have an accident – so this is a brilliant idea for dealing with an issue that affects alot of women.

Can’t wait to give them a go!

I have tried these shorts myself and can only say that they work miracles. After I had my second child 8 years ago, I lost a lot of weight and was actually starting to get fit. However, problems with urinary leaks stopped me taking exercise to the next level so I gave up and put all the weight back on!

Now, even after baby no. 3, and years of saying that running was not for me – claiming lack of fitness but really because of leaks – I am finally able to say that I can run without embarrassing myself! I am now confident when I go jogging and might even venture into an exercise class for the first time in 8 years!!
