We took our little ones to the zoo on Friday and have to say, we had a great day. There is so much to see that we spent most of the day there.

They have a new baby gorilla, new penguin, brand newborn spider monkey, baby rhino and loads of other new animals. It was our toddler’s first time going and she absolutely loved it. She was saying hello to the animals and goodbye to the animals, blowing them kisses and laughing her head off in the playgrounds!

There is so much walking involved that it was brilliant at knackering them out because they were all walking and running for 4 hours!

The African plains is finished now and is massive with loads to see, most notably the new gorilla enclosure. We were literally a few feet away from a gorgeous silverback gorilla.

They are redeveloping the orangutan enclosure so that should be up and running soon so they were the only animals that we could not see.

Its not the cheapest day out – its 45.50 for a family ticket for 2 adults & 2 kids – but it is a brilliant day out and is well worth a visit.

if anyone looking for something to do today/tomorrow, its a good way to keep the little ones busy for at least 3-4 hours!

If you are on a budget, I would suggest bringing a packed lunch and maybe just buy coffees & ice-creams there. The coffees and ice-creams we had were lovely.

Also, for getting in, you can get zoo passes on Tesco vouchers and there are often special offers for passes in the paper too, so worth watching out for those.

we have the annual pass and go at least 5/6times a year – sometime we only go in for an 2/3hours but last time we were there from 11am until 4pm – always bring a packed lunch and just buy coffee/icecreams there – our pair love going and we sometimes throw their scooters in the car and go for a stroll in the park afterwards..brilliant day out me thinks
