MemberJust google census 1911 dublin and if you have a name or address of people that lived in dublin around that year it should come up.Find out the real name of ur families from that year eg.my grandmother was called molly but on the census her name was brigid mary.

Memberreally taylor, never heard of that, these 2 women arent family memebers though, well not blood but they are counted as family to all my mams family.
pity i cant question it, have always been interested in my family tree.August 6, 2008 at 2:26 pm #64684scole1
Membercould ya not do a family tree by checking birth records, surely your nana’s birth cert may have listed her birth parents……and unfold the rest for your own couriosity, but be careful things that they may not want revealed may be revealed so tread carefully not to hurt anyone’s feelings……

MemberYeah Yummy my MIL didnt live with her family she lived with her aunts (she was an only girl and the house was small so her aunts are more like sisters)
One of my mums friends (in her 70’s) only found out about 20 years ago the the person she thought was her sister was really her mother…. they were from the country and it was kept hush hush and the mother just raised the daughters child as hers and saved the family from shame……. God Desperate housewives must have an Irish writerDo be careful what you find, I watch "who do you think you are" on bbc and alot of celebs get shocks about there hidden families past

Memberbut sure how would i go bout getting her birth cert or checking birht records???
August 7, 2008 at 12:40 pm #64733Dinomum
MemberIf you knew where she lived, approx date of birth (the year is v important) you can go up to the General Register Office which holds births deaths and marriages records for the whole country. It is in the Irish Life Building in Abbey St, Dublin. Its only somtehin like €2 to do a search and you have to pay for any photocopies. You will prob need a good 1/2 day to set aside to search all the records though !!
