Can anyone recommend a good inexpensive hand cream – have tried so many but nothing does the job. I need a rich nurishing cream that moisturises and protects – hands are constantly getting washed – sounds like i have ocd but havin two small ones i seem to have my hands in water constantly – and I HATE rubber gloves – have to wash my hands after wearing them !!
March 3, 2010 at 1:12 pm #90659chewieodieParticipantI’m an excema girl, as is my daughter….
Find four things that work pretty well for us…. in no particular order….E45 cream
Neutrogena
and there is a Aloe Vera (forever Living) product that helps too….
and of course if you can get a hold of Burts Bees hand cream…. you can’t go far wrong 😉March 3, 2010 at 1:20 pm #90665JedtKeymasterBurts Bees Milk & Honey lotion is wonderful, keeps hands moisturised for ages and smells divine too. You can get this in some health shops, a few pharmacies or on the site here through mammamia.ie
Aloe Vera Fruit of the Earth is good too, available in some local chemists.
We will be giving out samples of the Aloe Vera cream tomorrow at the Marshes Bagel Bar Dundalk get together tomorrow morning 10am, if you want to come along – or I can keep you some if you like?
March 3, 2010 at 1:24 pm #90666beamsMemberO Sabbi would you keep me a sample and i’ll get it off you on Friday night at the BIG NIGHT OUT! Something that doesnt wash off is really what i need – before my hands drop off !!! 😯 Thanks for your suggestions 😀
March 3, 2010 at 1:51 pm #90673Taylor5MemberBeams if you go to the chemist and get cotton gloves… put any cream on your hands at night i use silcocks base then pop the glove on and sleep with the gloves on…. the hands will soften up.
i have the same problem think i’ve ocd too…. hands chapped and dry i use Aldi one with is great only 2 euro and i use Atrxio which is lovely and oily …. but hands still in bits..
You should treat yourself to a parafin hand dip….. bliss and hands like newMarch 3, 2010 at 1:53 pm #90674beamsMemberThanks Chewieodie – have used neutrogena but not mad about the smell – also have E45 and Silcox base here and same problem . Will look at the mamamia website at the burts bees – i love their products for babies – thanks 😀
March 3, 2010 at 2:03 pm #90677beamsMemberYeah Taylor ive heard that tip about the cotton gloves alright and i think i will have to try something at this stage – so sore around the knuckles at the mo. Then i need something each time i wash my hands – I know glycerine in hand creams is really good and softening so trying to look for hand cream containing that – not easy !! I had that parafin dip done before my wedding – o wow – gorgeous soft hands – it was lovely. Maybe its the soap that drying them out too
Sabbi tried mamamia and they only have 8 products displayed -the milk and honey lotion not displayed . Might get it downtown though as you say.March 3, 2010 at 2:11 pm #90680Taylor5MemberTry the glove i use them when my hands get bad should use them all the time but i dont 🙄
Why not get a emusifying ointment cheap as chips and will do the trick after the hand washingMarch 3, 2010 at 2:13 pm #90681beamsMemberWill defo try gloves – i dont like the smell of any of those emulsifying ointments – plus they are greasy – yukkky !! 🙄 🙄
