Stewards Drogheda Christmas Bonanza Festival – 7th – 8th – 9th December 2012 This is a large festive community event hosted by the local business’ to give back to the town and celebrate with a weekend of music, markets, performances and fireworks. This year the festival is having a Santa Dash for charity as well as gig rigs around thetown.

The festival is looking to get as many volunteers to assist to ensure the smooth running and most importantly safety of the events. Volunteers needed to help out / steward duties / support gigs, firework displays on Friday 7th December from 5pm – 8pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm and Sunday, 9th December from 2pm – 7pm. The times are from 5-8pm Friday 7th with 30 stewards required to steward West Street where the Gig rig will be placed.

Last year this event drew a crowd of about 5 thousand and needs to be heavily manned so it is vital we have the numbers for this. On the Saturday 8th the markets event will be from 10am until 6pm. We would need as many as 10 volunteers to do shift work for 4 hours on this date to advise people where events are happening and to mainly steward the gig rig in front of St Peters Church from 2-6. Sunday 9th we will need at least 30 people to cover 2 separate shifts on both from 12.30-3.30 for the Santa Dash starting at Clarkes car park in fair street and in various places around the town. Then from 3.30 – 6.30 in and around the area of Scotch Hall for the gig rig and fireworks display.

In total 60 people will be required if people are to do a max of a 3 or 4 hour shift. All volunteers will be briefed with health and safety training for the event as well as high viz vests. Should people want to do longer hours we would be only too delighted. We are very much aware of the weather etc and with this in mind and as a thank you gesture the Bonanza will be offering refreshments in various places in the town.
