    Hi. Not too sure if anyone can help but I’m in a bit of a predicament. I am on maternity leave from work with baby number 3. I am going back to work in about 6 weeksand luckily my childminder has agreed to take on baby number 3. So she will have my 6 year old who is at school, my 2 year old and what will be my 6 month old. does anybody have any ideas how much I should be paying her for the 3 kids. She has no idea and I don’t want to insult her but at the same time, there is only so much money in the pot unfortunately.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Mary,

    Gosh I really have no idea .. I know if you were looking at creche prices you’d be well into the €1,000s.You might want to call the Louth Childcare Committee .. they might have a price range? I know they even have a childminder’s section.

    Let usk now what the oustcome is … just incase any others are in the same situation.

    You would usually be talking about 6 euro an hour for the 1st child & 3 euro an hour for each additional child but TBH u would have to work it out with ur minder depending on her qualifications/experience etc

    Qualified/registered minders would be more expensive

    Thanks so much for the info. I talked to the childcare people and they had costs from 2006 survey for creche which is great to know but not exactly what I needed. I’ll be having the conversation next week or so, fingers crossed all goes well. Thanks again. Mary
