We had brilliant time at Carlton Tralee in Kerry this week. It is a very child friendly hotel & is well located beside an AquaDome, Tennis Courts, Bouncy caslte & bungie jump activities – so plenty to keep the kids happy.

The hotel is 4 star, well laid out with nice spacious rooms. We had interconnecting rooms with 3 single beds in one room for our 10, 8 and 6 year olds and the toddler had a single bed in our room, while we had a king sized bed beside the toddler. Carlton only charge a small supplement for interconnecting rooms which is a relief for families with more than 2 children like us, as we have been quoted the price of two rooms for some breaks we looked into.

The hotel has a nice bar, restaurant and spa and they run daily kids clubs. They have good food in the bar and specials that vary from day to day. Reasonably priced and very nice food – the chocolate & orange tart was divine and the kids cookie & ice-cream is delicious. The kids get fed their dinner as part of the kids clubs and this is included in the price of the family breaks, so that cuts down on cost to the parents too, which we like and also, gives parents a chance to relax while the kids over 4 are at the kids club.

It is a 10 min walk into the heart of the town and is a nice quiet walk in. There are loads of nice shops and pubs and a market on somedays in the main square.

Overall, our hotel stay and trip to Kerry gets a big thumbs up from us!! If anyone thinking of Kerry for a holiday, this is a good spot to stay and the Carlton hotels are Irish owned too, so thats another good incentive to look at them.

We spent 2 days in Tralee and then drove over to Killarney one day and to Dingle on another (here is my favourite pic of the week, its quite insane! : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid … =1&theater) .

There is so much to do and see in Kerry and it is a truly beautiful spot. Even our kids were impressed with the landscape, beaches and the quirkiness of the place.

It was a long drive for us to get there from Meath but have to say, it was absolutely worth it. We had a great time and I think it is somewhere we will go again in a few years.

I was not really that bothered about where we went to be honest but have to say, Kerry is really fantastic. Would highly recommend it.

The Carlton in Ballinasloe is very good too and is a shorter drive, so if you did not fancy driving too far, that one is a good one for families and they have the kids clubs too which are so brilliant.
