MemberHi,
I am just deciding whether to take in another foster dog Crilly, the Springer Spaniel….she has really pulled at my heart strings but with 3 dogs already we have a bit of a full house so i thought I would ask on here to see if anyone is interested in fostering Crilly for a short while?? she is in kennels at the moment and really needs a warm loving home instead…
(all costs are covered by DAR all you need to provide is love)
she is a mature girl who was found on Clogherhead beach on February 25th 2008. She is approx. 9-10 years old and was absolutely exhausted when found. She slept for two whole days, just waking up long enough to eat, do her business and then go straight back to sleep! After her big rest, she was ready for a normal routine and loves her walks and loves company. Crilly (named after the person who found her) was not wearing a collar and is not microchipped. She knows lots of commands and little tricks, so was obviously loved and well cared for by someone in the past. An ideal home for Crilly would have a nice, secure garden and an owner to give her the lifestyle, love and attention she so richly deserves. Crilly would make a great pet for someone who can appreciate the companionship and steady presence offered by a mature dog. There is plenty of life in the old girl yet and she loves her walks and home comforts too. If you can offer this golden girl a suitable home, please complete our rehoming questionnaire. http://www.dar.ie
Her photos are on http://www.dar.ie, she is bottom of list of dogs looking for homes.
many thanks,
Moonflower xx

Memberah she’s lovely, but would a house with a 2 year old be any good for her though? fell in love with all of them but like coco, is she really not suitable for a house again with a 2 year old, is she really a little messer??
read the story about the dog tied on bettystown waiting for sea to come in to drown, that’s an absolute disgrace who ever had the cold heart to do that should be tied to the wire and drowned that’s awful the poor dog god love him…..people are just so bloody cruel…. 👿 👿 👿 😥 😥

MemberHi Scole,
Sorry took a while to get back to you. When you foster its usually until a permanent family can be found for the dog, but even just for a week or so helps….DAr tend to find homes for dogs often enough but some take longer than others….
I am waiting for phone call, so was going to bring Crilly home to our house and see how she gets on with our dogs and DS and will then let you know what I think…or perhaps you could pop round and see her yourself as I am not too sure what she is like yet…..or if you want me to find about more about Coco I can do that too??
Fostering isreally the very best thing anyone can do to help the animals if DAR could get more dogs into foster care it would be so much cheaper than kennels and then the funds they have could start going towards getting the permanent centre built 🙂 which is why i want to get back into fostering again

MemberIts a great idea but hope you dont fall head over heals in love with your foster dog like we did with dottie
March 25, 2008 at 12:56 pm #57960Moonflower
MemberI know Taylor, thats hard part but it gets easier to part with them after a while especially when you know they will be goin to a good home.
Thats great thing about fostering, if some people cant commit to a dog long term, at least with fostering there is no long term commitment if you dont want it….DAR will always take foster dog back if it doesnt work out or if you need to go away etc.
I must meet Dottie some day!!

MemberAh she is great, starting to stop chewing the place down 😆 😆 😆 She was nearly going back to DAR, she is great with ds and they have a bit of a love hate releationship, they both love each other but he hashes her and she can jump and scratch him……. so true love.
Ds would die without her, if we are going to the movies or the parade, he is always saying "dottie too" he would bring here every where if he could

Memberthats the way it seems 2 be when u get one dog u fall in love & then its easier to get another….thats how we ended up with 3!!
Crilly looks like she’s had a hard life bless her…but thats when fostering is so much more rewarding as you really feel that you are givin them something they have never had… 🙂
Just took her out now & she was frightened 2 get out of car down beach, you wonder if last time shegot out of car, her owners abandoned her & drove off 😥

MemberHi moonflower 🙂
Yes my little terrier still gets frightened easily even if i dropped a pan cover on the kitchen floor… 😳
hes becoming much more friendlier now and he learns to lick …. 😛
and he looks so chubby chubby now like a little bear cub 🙂

MemberHi,
Just an update,Crilly is doing fabulous here wiv us, wen she came she had such a sad look in her eyes & now the smile in her eyes is comin back & she is getting used to her goodnight hugs & biscuit each evening.
Fostering is so rewarding, even in our furry friends…anyone else tempted 2 foster..???there are so many dogs that need temporary homes as well as permanent..
Also if anyone is interested in adopting Crilly, looks like she wil be up for adoption soon as her owners have stil not come 4ward. she is very placid & easy 2 mind dog, would suit a family who r not so active or an elderly person,as she tends to rest a lot.she has also been great wiv my 2 yr old, he asks her 2 sit & give her paw & she does it for him & is really gentle.
