MemberRegular dad meet up starting Castlebellingham Service Station (heading south from Dundalk to Drogheda) Tuesday 15th Feb (& every Tues after hopefully) 10.30-12.30.
All businesses invited to attend & advertise (anytime, but especially the first one) – any flyers, discounts, freebies, on site stalls / service etc etc very welcome. Might give ye a chance to contact a new market – dads!
No charges of any kind apply.
If you need any specific facilities etc, contact the site manager.
For more info on the ‘dads – all ages, all stages’ meet up, check out the Co. Louth section. hread on it there.
And naturally ALL dads hugely welcome to attend & have a bit of crack….

ParticipantI think it might be best!
You should go FC that would be ideal for you, Men would be poss more interested in your kind of stuff than the ladies!!

ParticipantActually, I find that it’s the ladies that would often deal most with the financial planning sideof things when it comes to enquiries or requesting quotes. In many cases it’s because they are sahm’s and have the time when kids are at school, but quite often it’s because they just manage that side of things better! (Or in some cases, they just don’t want their dh’s to know how much they actually spend! 😆 )

MemberI’m more aware of and interested in financial issues than my DH…I think many mums have a better idea of household spend than many dad’s. I know how much things are in the shop, insurance for home, health, car etc and would more often be the one to shop around.
This meet up sounds like a good idea, hope the dads come out for it.

MemberWell, slowly but surely….
Aura Dundalk will distribute a few freebies (gym trials etc), book stall will hopefully be there & also photographer, financial adviser (maybe), French food etc (perhaps)….
I’m waiting for replies from a lot of places & will hit a few more on Mon or Tues (baby permitting… )
The ‘meet up’ is being publicised on LMFM over the next two weeks on the Community Diary & I had a brief interview on Fri, & I’ve contacted local papers but received no response yet – PLEASE spread the word & encourage everyone to come along…
Would be great to start with a bit of a bang! Any more volunteers out there??? You’re business has nothing to lose – no charge or anything. Worst case scenario, you could have an enjoyable couple of hours socialising…..

ParticipantI am really looking forward to photographing everything 😀
I will put the photos up on a secure gallery on my web site for every one to view after the day.

ParticipantI meant to say this is a great opportunity for any small businesses or people starting out who can’t factor in extortionate advertising costs to their business.
Small businesses really do start of by word of mouth and this will be great!
I really hope it takes off for you..unusual that the local papers haven’t jumped on it?
It did make LMFM’s twitter feed though 😀

Yeah Daisy, it’s usually one or the other of a couple, rather than both, that would look after the financial side of things! But I always try to get both parties of a couple in at least one meeting, so that one isn’t trying to relay all the info 2nd hand 😉
HMM, I hope you’ll allow someone else at least one click of the camera so you get into the pics as well! 😉

MemberCalled in in person to Argus with poster etc & they said they’d see what they could do.
Distributed posters at HSE health clinic, tax office, social welfare office, local post office, supermarket. Most of the bigger retailers etc said ‘against policy to display posters’ etc even when invited to attend. Very frustrating.
emailing loads of sports clubs etc & credit unions, but getting very few responses wither way…. ahhhh… Will persevere until labour pangs set in!
