A little while back I was up at Aldi in the retail park, and I remember seeing a signboard advertising somewhere with discounted appliances….
Anyone been there? Anyone know the name so that I can check online before taking a drive up there?

You cannot go wrong with Power City, up across from Smyth’s toystore. They have one of the lowest (if not the lowest) mark up on their products. My husband used to work in the trade and he maintains they are the cheapest. You can also haggle a little with them to get an extra few quid knocked off and I find them very helpful.

Incidentally, I did take a drive up to the discount appliance place. Bottom line is…. it is reconditioned items which are being sold for a lot less than their retail price…. with a one year guarantee. They will also deliver and install for a small fee…. so, that is also an option.
