Going on hols next week. Any suggestions on good books, ones that you found hard to put down. Would prefer some oldies, so I can get them from the library.

June 22, 2010 at 3:47 pm #95929JedtKeymasterHarlan Coben books are great, fast paced and very addictive!
Marian Keyes last book, ‘The Brightest Star in the Sky’ is great, a bit sad in places but a very entertaining read.
I really liked her previous book ‘This charming man’ it deals with a very serious issue in a way that makes you cry at times and laugh out loud at others. I think her ability for wit is exceptional and I love her style of writing.
Her book Angel is another good one, again a good book that pulls you in and with a great twist most of us don’t see coming.
if you want to cry your eyes out, get any Jodi Picoult book, most of them are tear jerkers, I was especially moved by ‘Perfect Match’….just shows the lengths a parent will go to to protect their child
I also really liked ‘The Friday night knitting club’, this is being made in to a movie with Julia Roberts, I doubt they’ll be able to make it better than the book, its a great read
The library is fab for renting out books and Waterstone’s have great offers on 3 for 2 etc and also, the Wise Owl do great offers too…..
Hope that helps!!
June 22, 2010 at 4:47 pm #95935MartinaParticipantI’m reading "The American Wife" by Curtis Sittenfeld, i’m completely hooked on it at the minute, its fictional about a First Lady of America telling her story and so far I’m half way in thanks to the waiting room in OLOL Orthopaedic Clinic, lol (started it this morning).
From the Library I’ve taken a shine to Amanda Quick. They are period drama’s basically corset buster’s, easy read very well written so far i’ve found Lie by Moonlight and The Third Circle, will be looking again tomorrow.
Also read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks lately found it very sad but compelling once you got into it.
For a deeper tale Patrick O’Brien is my man, he wrote Master and Commander and also The Far Side of the World, which were combined in the Russell Crowe Movie and other High Sea Adventures.

Taylor – Ido live in Drogheda. Looking forward to seeing your list. There is no rush as I will get some out of the library for now.
Are any of you involved in a book club? Have never been in one, but it sounds like fun.
