We stayed for a few days in November and it was just gorgeous, full of Christmas cheer, beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming. The staff were so friendly too when we were checking in. Once we got settled, we went for a walk to stretch our legs and get some of that lovely country air. The grounds and surroundings are so beautiful and the towns close by are lovely too, lots of quirky shops to explore.
Earlier that day we visited the Wicklow Christmas market and then we came back to the hotel to milk, cookies & chocs in our room.
I went for a relaxing treatment in the spa while my hubby took the kids for a swim. They had such a great time in the pool that they went back again the following morning!
After such a busy day we were really excited for dinner and it did not disappoint. The setting was relaxing, the fire was lit, the food was incredible and we all really enjoyed our sumptuous dinner in the restaurant that evening.
The food was incredible, the atmosphere festive, the staff so friendly and it is a genuinely family friendly hotel. The games room for kids is so brilliant and its located just off the lobby. So my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy a glass of wine after dinner, surrounded by beautiful Christmas tress and stunning decorations, while our children played in the game room.
We spent a few glorious days here in November, surrounded by twinkly lights and huge Christmas trees, it really is spectacular at this time of year! Here we are in the lobby, about to go for dinner:
Our mini family break was truly fabulous and we cannot wait to go back! This is a really gorgeous hotel, set in the rolling hills of stunning Wicklow. From the huge twinkling Christmas trees and a reindeer in the lobby, to the spacious inter connecting family rooms )which had loads of space for the 6 of us) to the games room and spa, it was just wonderful. And it was great that we were all in proper beds – no sticking the kids in camp beds here!
When we got into our rooms, there was milk on ice and freshly baked cookies for the children and a box of Butlers chocolates for the adults. (I enjoyed a few of them when I was relaxing in a bubble bath!).
When we opened the wardrobes, we saw that there were fluffy robes for all 6 of us! I’ve never been in a hotel that supplied kids fluffy robes and our children were so excited to get into them for our trip to the pool! After a swim, we all came back to our rooms very hungry and the cookies, milk and chocs were a perfect treat to keep us going until dinner.
We got dressed up (the bubble baths were fab and they had kids bath products too!) and headed down to the lounge for dinner. We had a large round corner table and there was a roaring fire going. The food was incredible and the service, excellent.
For starters we shared melon with raspberry coulis, chicken wings, cheesy garlic bread and it all so yum. Dinner was pasta bolognese for the smaller children, burgers for the older two, I had salmon pasta in creamy sauce and my hubby had chicken with the nicest red wine jus!! It was all so delicious. We were kind of stuffed but had to see what dessert would be like so we decided to share. Sherry trifle (obviously a posh one!) for hubby and me and oreo cream and ice creams for the kids too. All of it – every morsel was delicious !!!!
So overall, we would fully recommend it. Its a fabulous place to go and it is so family friendly. Our children were so comfortable there, they could run around and play. There was a play room too – with air hockey, pacman, foosball and all sorts of fun in there. We have stayed in lots of hotels in Ireland and can honestly say, this is one of our absolute all time favourites. I love it so much, I took my Mam for Afternoon Tea for Mother’s day, you can watch a little video we created that day HERE. It’s truly gorgeous, inside and the surroundings.
