The BUMBLEance tours all Mothercare stores throughout the year giving customers and their families the chance to experience the interactive children’s ambulance firsthand and see the wonderful service they provide.
The Dublin leg of the tour, kicks off in The Park, Carrickmines store Saturday, 11th May from 10am to 4pm. The BUMBLEance will then travel to the Blanchardstown store, Saturday, 18th May and to Belgard, Sunday, 19th May.
BUMBLEance is the world’s first fully interactive Children’s National Ambulance Service, specifically designed for and tailored to children. Laura Ward, Marketing Director of Mothercare Ireland commented on the partnership “we think long and hard before selecting our charity partners and BUMBLEance is a perfect fit for us and our customers. BUMBLEance is the official Children’s National Ambulance Service of Ireland. They provide safe and comfortable transportation for Ireland’s youngest patients as they travel between their homes and hospitals, hospices, treatment centres, and respite centres nationwide.
Founders, Tony and Mary Heffernan saw first-hand the need for this critical service as they had to transport both of their children, Saoirse and Liam, to and from hospitals for regular treatments. Both children suffered from Battens Disease, a rare and fatal genetic disorder of the brain. Saoirse lost her battle with Battens disease in 2011, age 5 and Liam also passed away in 2014, also age 5. BUMBLEance was created so that no other family would have to deal with the hardships of transporting sick, critically ill and children with life limiting and threatening conditions.
